I went in for my 38 week appointment, my blood pressure had 'hit an all time high' according to the nurse. They took it again and it was the same and the doctor started talking to me about induction and it's risks, then said he'd like to admit me into the hospital tomorrow for induction. I was SHOCKED, i really thought I was in it for the long haul. I went into the hospital on June 10th at 8pm to get the medication that softens the cervix and I was having minor contractions all night, when the doctor checked me I was 1 centimeter and -3, I was thinking I was going to be in that hospital forever at this rate. At 9am they gave me pitocin and within 45 minutes the contractions were there-big time. At 12 noon the doctor came in and broke my water, he told the nurse softly to keep a good watch on me because there was blood in the water and he didn't know if it was my cervix or my placenta, after he broke my water my contractions got much worse, and I asked for pain medication within the half hour-the doctor said I could have something that started with an "N"...it made me feel so sick and did nothing for the pain. I was dizzy and vomitting. At 2:30 they checked me and I was 3 centimeters but BEGGING for an epidural...they took a half hour and the woman who did it tried three times and couldn't do it, I ended up asking her what the heck her problem was...as my contractions were back to back...I had maybe a 10 second break, then a different man came in and got it first try within 10 seconds. Right after I got the epidural my little angel's heartrate dropped big time, they immediately put me on oxygen and turned the epidural off...turned me to my side, I had no idea what was going on but apparently it was bad. At that point they checked me and I had gone from 3 centimeters to 7 within 10 minutes, and I went from 7 to 10 within another 10 minutes. I pushed for 20 minutes and miss Lilly Isabella was born. I would never get an epidural again, or whatever drug I had that started with an "N". But, already I want more children...in a while. It was the most amazing thing i've ever gone through.
