Xavier`s birthstory
We checked in to hospital at 6:00 am to be induced. I was pretty nervous but was extremely excited. They gave me an IV (which really hurt) and placed a blood pressure thingy on my arm that had to stay there the whole time along with the heart monitor and contraction monitor. So I was already feeling contractions and had been for a few days but they seemed to get worse when we got to hospital which was crazy. The doc came in around 8:30 am and said I was 1 1/2 cm dialated and 50% effaced. So she broke my water and the contractions started getting more intense almost immediatley. They were 2 minutes apart and really hurting. Then they hooked me up to the pitocin and wow those contractions startegetting even more intense! I wanted to wait as long as I could before getting the epidural but I just couldnt handle it anymore so I asked for the epidural and she came in pretty quick. IT HURT SO BAD!!! I was crying from the pain. It was really intense pressure that I felt in my lower back and at the same time I was feeling the contractions so it was horrible. Plus right after I felt like I had to pee and wanted to so bad but couldnt get out of bed so the nurse told me to wait a bit to see if the feeling goes away. I ended up getting a catheder (sp?) put in and it felt so much better. The epidural worked so quick and I started to really relax. It was really strange b/c the epi made me feel really tired and out of it and groggy. (this didnt happen with my first child). It was making me worried about how weird I felt b/c whenever I moved I felt really dizzy. OH, and it made me really ITCHY! I couldnt stop itching. But I was so sleepy I ended up in a very light sleep most of the labor. Doc came in after epi and I was only 3 cm dialated but 90% effaced. So they put something inside me to measure the contractions better. I was dissapointed that I was only 3 cm b/c those contractions hurt I thought I was further. So I continued to sleep and doc came in at 1:20 pm to check me and I was 5 to 6 cm dialated. So my mom went to get some food. While I was laying there I suddenly felt leaking down there. We thought it was the catheder so my husband looked and saw blood. We called the nurse and he thought it was probably just some bloddy show and checked me...I was 10 cm and ready to push!!!!! I went from 6 cm to 10 cm in less then an hour! I sat up to get ready and ended up throwing up. I actually felt a little better after I did. My mom ended up running to the hospital from the sandwhich shop down the street to make it in time!! The doc was saying that he had a C-section he had to get to so he may have to call the office and have another doc come to deliver but he said `lets do a couple practice pushes and then I will call her`. Well, I did a practice push and he said that there was no time for waiting! I pushed my little boy out in 10 minutes! He is beautiful and came out looking so incredible. I am so happy right now and am in love with my new little boy.
