Alexis Marie Sex: girl Born: 14 June, 2008 Age: 0 years & 174 days Birthday in: 191 days Starsign: Gemini Development: See the 5 months page. Biggest achievement so far: lifting her head; smiling... |
On Friday, me and Mark decided to go shopping. I thought for sure I'd be induced on Monday, I was crampy after my membranes were stripped on Thursday. I was looking forward to going food shopping and to clean my house up Saturday.. well my plans went right out the window!!
At around 12:30a.m. Sat morning (June 14th) I was having regular contractions that went from my back and made my tummy hard. Until about 3:00 a.m., I thought they were BH contractions, so I thought I'd take a warm bath and try to relax. Things didn't get any better. At 5:30, I decided to wake my husband up and tell him that it was time. At this time my contractions were 7 mins apart. We left the house around 6:00 a.m and arrived at the hospital at 7:00 ish.
hey hooked me up to a monitor and my contractions were 4-6 mins. apart. The nurse then called my midwife and my midwife told them just to keep me. They started my antibiotics ( I tested + for GBS) at around 7:30 am. I was then later told that my contractions began to space out to 10 mins. apart. They decided to start pitocin to get the contractions back to where it should be and to progress my labor. I was kind of upset because I wanted my body to do all the work but I knew if I didn't get the pitocin, I would be in the hospital forever!! So I agreed. Pitocin was then started at 8:30am.
My midwife then came and checked me at 12:30 pm, I was only 4cm's dialated. She decided to go ahead and break my water. At 2:30 pm I asked to be checked. I was still only 4 cm's dialated and was in pain! I was checked again at 3:45 pm and I was 6 cm's dialated. I thought for sure I'd have her in the late evening. I told my midwife at 4:00 that I had to push, she said not to because I was only 7 cm's. Then at 4:15 I insisted I needed to push, I was then 9 cm's dialated. She got all she needed to get ready. Then at 4:30, I was ready to push my baby girl out. Whew.. I was in soo much pain.. I don't quite remember it being this bad when I had my son.. 3 pushes later, she was born.
Once again, I did this all natural. I did not get an epidural or and other pain relief meds.
i am currently breastfeeding, It is going wonderful! Besides me being very sore everytime she sucks the first few times, I am proud of her latching on well.

During Labor

right after she was born

She's checking me out! =]

Giving her some love.

You can see my happy tears.

Ok. SO my due date for my first son was 4-10-07. On 4-09, My husband was sick and the day of my due date I got sick. I thought I had gotten it from him but instead my body was preparing for labor. I was puking and had a major case of diaherrea. I called my doctor and they said for me to come in. I was contracting every 10 minutes but they said they could not induce me till the next morning. So , we took our hour ride back home.
The next morning, April 11th, 2007, We woke up about 5:30 a.m and left our house at 6:00 to get to the hospital by 7:00. When we arrived, we had to do some paperwork and then I was admitted. They hooked me up to some antibotics and some fluids. at 9:00 a.m my midwife had arrived and checked me, I was only 2 cm dialated. At 1:00 p.m. I was started on pitocin to help induce my labor. At 4:00 p.m my water was broken by a nurse. My midwife came in around 7:30 and said I was only 4-5 cm dialated. By this time I thought for sure I was going to have a c-section. But I was wrong.
While all of this was happening, my midwife kept asking me if I wanted the epidural.. I said no!
So at 9:30 I was checked again I was 5-6 cm dialated. At 10:45 p.m I had called a nurse in to check me because I felt like I had to push my little man out. She said I was fully dialated and that she would call my midwife. Well needless to say I sat there for 35 minutes for my midwife to come in and the nurses told me NOT to push for those minutes.
At 11:20, my midwife finally arrived. I pushed and pushed and at 11:45 p.m my son was born. He weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 inches long. I did all this with no pain medication and would do it all over again!
