My Quick (or not) and Painful Birth Story : )
Well my quick blog the other night was in fact the real deal. I started my contractions at 11 p.m. on the dot. They were close together from the start, so after about 15 minutes I woke up DH, and off we flew. I called my doc from my cell phone, and told her all of the details, and since I apparently sounded calm, she didn't think it was a rush situation, but because of the distance, she said to go on to the hospital. DH was flying!!
I kept telling him that it was okay because my water still hadn't broken so we had time. The contractions were getting worse and worse, but I just figured it was because we were on the road and I was stuck in a sitting position. We were on the road for about 30 minutes when DH realized we were almost out of gas (brilliant, huh?) so we stopped at a gas station, and the pumps weren't turned on!!
So DH runs into the gas station and is a frantic mess, but the people working there were in no hurry to help, so after some choice words exchanged between poor DH and the woman behind the counter I decide we have enough gas, let's get going! I thought I was going to die, and I just wanted to get that epidural that I have heard so many good things about, but have never had the pleasure of knowing. So about 10 minutes later we arrive at the hospital.
It felt so good to stand up, for a second. So I walk into the ER and sit to register and I realized I am shaking in pain. They wheel me up to the first room, and when the nurse checks my cervix she says, "You are at 9 centimeters" The first thing I said was "No epidural again!!!" I was bummed...... but my bags of water had not ruptered, THANK GOD, because all of my blogs about having the baby on the side of the road would have definitely happened.
So they set me up in my room, which is where you deliver and recover, and told me that we were going to wait until my doctor arrived to break my water and then start pushing.
The contractions sucked so bad, but DH was great, I was lying on my side and he would push down on my hips when I was peaking which helped I think : ) I just wanted to cry but it was so painful I couldn't even get a tear out. So after about 25 minutes the doc arrived and broke my water,....... OMG I wanted to die, the contractions got worse and the baby surged lower very quickly. I wanted to push so bad but i couldn't because my cervix was not thinned out enough on one side, so after a couple of minutes I just could not take it anymore, and my body just started pushing on its own. The doctor decided to add some numbing meds to my HooHoo, since it was going so quickly, which waiting for that was horrible, and finally push time!! It was great, from the time I started pushing to the time I delivered was 1 full minute. (The nurse looked it up on the records and informed me of that later).
The doctor said it was a girl, and I had to ask her what she said again, because I was so sure it was going to be a boy. She said it's a girl, and I just laughed and laughed hysterically. I don't know if it was really the fact that I had just given birth to a little girl, or if it was that I had just given birth and I was soooooooo gleefully happy that it was over. But it must have been a sight, because all of the nurses have been talking about it this whole time. But since it was so fast and she was so big, I had a 3rd degree tear, which is most uncomfortable but healing well.
So now I'm looking at this beautiful little girl, (whose face was a blue yesterday from bruising caused by the fast delivery, but looking rosy today) She is perfect, and her brother and sister are so in love with her. My son wanted a little brother so badly, but loves her so much already. She is a very chill baby, except for when mommy forgets and eats something that makes her gassy!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my little miracle, and good luck to all of my friends who are expecting, and loads of TTC dust to the sweet girls on here that so much deserve the little babies they are waiting and praying for. xoxoxo
