Birth Story:
On August 19, 2008 at 6:24am the hospital called and said that everything was a go for our induction and we should head in. We arrived at the hospital about an hour later where I was hooked up to the monitors and got an IV. My doctor came in around 8:30am and broke my water. He wanted to wait about 45 minutes to see if my contractions would start on their own. They did not, so at about 10:30am they started pitocin.
From there, the contractions started coming very strong and about every two to three minutes. My doctor came in around 12:30pm and checked me. I was about 3cm and 90% effaced. I decided to get the epidural which they put in around 2:30pm. There seemed to be a problem with it because it wasn't providing a ton of relief. After the nurse looked around, she discovered there was a problem in the tubing from the actual medicine bag to me. She noticed that the epidural medicine was dripping on the floor- duh- no wonder it wasn't working. They replaced all the tubing and then the relief started to kick in at about 4:30pm.
Then I noticed that it was still hurting (lots of pressure) so they had the doctor on call check me and I was a 4. Then I wasn't feeling very good- tons of pressure, so the doctor came back and checked me at 4:50pm- I was an 8. Within the next five minutes I was a 10 and ready to go. One problem-- my doctor was in surgery, so everyone got ready to go except every contraction I was told to blow as oppose to push. I was so frustrated and in so much pain. Finally, my doctor came in around 5:05 or so. He said- Looks like you're ready- no kidding dude!
Anyway, he said that he might have to use the vacuum to pull out the baby. He told me to push and I did. He placed the vacuum on and told me to push again- realized he wasn't going to need the vacuum and took it off. He was out in 9 pushes.
No one said anything so I had to ask my husband what it was.... it was another little boy! Joseph Anthony is what we chose to name him. I now have re-named our house- the House of Weiners as I now lived with my husband and three sons! It was such a relief to have him out and in my arms.
Just got these photos back from week 35 with baby number 3. What are your though...
