Julianna-Grace-Parenteau`s birthstory
Regular contractions began approx. 7:15 a.m., at 8:00 I knew it was time to wake dad up and head in to get checked. We were 3cm dilated and 50% efaced but the contractions were steady and growing so they decided to keep us in instead of sending home.
The membranes were terrible for breaking...contractions were consistent, 2 min apart and 1 min long from 8:15 a.m. until water finally broke at 3:03 p.m. They gave me some Ferinol to take the edge off. Then it all sped up a bit...by 7:00 p.m. we were 7cm dilated and all was going strong - then it stayed there. So the epidural was introduced (also because I was completely exhausted at this point).
I had an EPI with both of the other kids, so I wasn`t worried about it, but there was a blockage with the needle this time, so he had to remove and try again, and I had 5 contractions during the proceedure. Anyway, somewhere along the lines there must have been a leak b/c I have a horrible headache that can last up to a couple weeks now. I can go for a spinal drain, but I`m not thinking that`s what I want to do.
To make a long story short, the nursing staff changed and no one would listen to me...when I told them I had rectal pressure and was ready to push, they left us alone for an additional 2 1/2 hours after the last check (where we were at 9 1/2 cm)...finally my hubby got mad and I was snarky with a nurse, so she checked me...you should have seen that staff run. I didn`t think they had it in them.
Within 15 minutes and 3 pushes, Julianna was with us and healthy. A few stitches and we`re home and happy.
