Here's a bit about my beautiful baby girl...
I found out I was pregnant on a Saturday in the very end of April. It came as quite a shock to my husband, Kevin and I and we did not believe it to be true until the doctor confirmed it the following Monday. You see, this was a great miracle for us since we had been trying to conceive for 6 years! I have Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS. This means my ovaries are filled with cysts, making it nearly impossible for me to ovulate. This also means that many of my eggs are malformed and are not viable for fertilization...oh yeah, and I have a much greater risk of miscarriage.
God was very good to us and through much prayer, our pregnancy went perfectly! At our 20 week appointment we found out we were having a girl. We were thrilled beyond belief that we could finally call her by her name and not just "the baby" anymore. All of the sudden everything seemed so real...we were really having a baby!
The month of December dragged on for ages (I'm sure many of you can relate with your last month before giving birth). I loved being pregnant until those last few weeks when I just felt huge and uncomfortable all the time. And I was tired of anticipating Rebekah's birth, I just wanted to experience it. I had been dilated and effaced for several weeks and my body was ready to have her. Thank God for my doctor! She very kindly scheduled us for induction on the 28th of December!
Friday morning of the 28th, we arrived at the hospital bright and early. I was given the Pitocin drip at 7 am and steadily started contracting almost immediately. The pain was tolerable and I was able to breath through all my contractions without much problem. It did take a lot of focus, but felt very natural, easing my discomfort and allowing me to prepare for hard labor. Labor went very quickly for me and I was ready to push sometime around 1 pm. It took several long contractions and a lot of prayer to get Rebekah out, but she finally arrived at 1:35 pm! I made it through the whole labor without any medication!
I just want to say a huge thank you to all the husbands and partners out there. My husband was unbelievable with his support and encouragement. This was all new to him as well and he doubted himself throughout the whole process. But he was wonderful and knew exactly what I needed. I also want to say thanks to all the labor nurses out there. What a job you have! You are changing lives everyday and I know you probably don't get thanked enough...lets face it, most women are in too much pain to think straight during that time.
Well, that's my story. I plan to update Rebekah's page fairly often, sharing new pictures and milestones with you all. Please write when you have the chance and I will happily reply!

Noah Jacob Sex: boy Born: 05 January, 2009 Age: 4 years & 140 days Birthday in: 225 days Starsign: Capricorn Development: See the 32 months page. Biggest achievement so far: Starting to potty train! |
Original due date: January 21, 2009
Type of delivery: Vaginal (without pain relief)
Duration of labor: 12 hours
Weight @ birth: 7lbs 10.8oz
Length @ birth: 20 1/4"
Noah Jacob Meaker joined our family just 8 days after Bekah's 1st birthday! After nearly two weeks of early labor that had me dilated all the way to 4-5 cm and effaced to 80% he decided to come very quickly.
I was woken at 5:30 am with a mild contraction and just ignored it knowing I'd been having contractions fairly regularly for a while. When the contractions continued to come I wasn't even phased because I'd already had several rounds of strong, painful ones and these felt quite mild. So Kevin and I headed out to take Bekah to her doctor's appointment without much worry. By the time we got to her appointment my contractions were running about 8-10 minutes apart and becoming a bit stronger. I jokingly told the doc that I thought Noah might want out! She said, "Well, maybe I'll see you tomorrow then!" When we got home I decided I might really be in labor because the contractions were more like 5 minutes apart at that point and becoming a bit more painful. So I sat on my birthing ball and called my mom for a chat. Partway through the chat I started having to breath through the contractions and eventually had to get off the phone because they were coming every 2-3 minutes and were pretty strong. I still wasn't feeling too much pain so I went ahead and had some lunch and started walking the house a bit to help the progression. By about 2 pm I called my doctor's office and spoke with a nurse about how I was feeling. I just didn't want to jump the gun for the 4th time! Of course she told me to head to the hospital right away, so we packed up the car and headed in. I was still breathing through my contractions without any problem, so I was really apprehensive about even being there, but I knew it was probably better to be on the safe side.
When I got all settled into the bed my nurse (who happened to be the same nurse to help deliver Bekah!) decided to go ahead and check me right away since I had already been dilated so far. To our delightful surprise I was already 9 cm with a bulging bag of waters!!! Hahaha! Good thing we got there when we did! So I was admitted right away and hooked up to the IV so they could start running the meds for my strep B. They decided to hold off on breaking my waters until the meds ran through, which would take about 2 hours. Obviously if my waters broke on their own things would progress much faster. Well two hours went by and I was barely feeling the contractions at that point. I just couldn't believe it! I would never know I was in labor and had a blast just chatting and laughing with my husband and sister-in-law while we waited...knowing I would absolutely be having a baby that day was WONDERFUL!
Well two hours went by and the doc came in and broke my waters. It was just after 5 pm at that point and within 10 minutes I was pushing. Then I was feeling the pain for the first time! Hahaha! No meds for me meant that I was READY to get my son out! After several huge pushes we came to the conclusion he wasn't going to fit past my skin because my scar from my previous pregnancy tear was not stretching at all. So I decided to let the doc do an epesiotomy. One long push later Noah Jacob was here!!! And I thanked God for my second, beautiful, perfect little miracle!!!!! Here are some pictures of our little guy!

Elijah Benjamin Sex: boy Born: 17 May, 2010 Age: 3 years & 8 days Birthday in: 357 days Starsign: Taurus Development: See the 32 months page. Biggest achievement so far: Being a giant goofball! |
Wow, this time went so quicly this time and I can`t believe I`m writing this already! It was so much fun waiting to find out the gender this time! The anticipation was killing
us but in the end we enjoyed getting to call everyone with the exciting news. Elijah Benjamin joined us on Monday, May 17th! We actually got to say, `It`s a boy!!!`
Sunday before giving birth hubby and I decided we would try to get the baby to come out so we made love. LOL! Contractions started almost immediately afterward but faded away after 7 hours. So we went to bed. I awoke in the middle of the night with more contractions and had them consistently for 3 hours but again they faded away. So Monday afternoon rolled around and we thought we`d give it another try. Back to bed we went! LOL!!! By 2 pm the contractions started back up again but this time they got more and more intense. At 4 I called my doctor and they told me to drink three tall glasses of water and lay on my left side for an hour. If they were still coming after that then we should head to the hospital. A couple hours later we were on our way!
We checked into the hospital at 7 pm and I was dilated to 5 cm. By 8 pm I was at 7 cm and the doctor came in and broke my water. He said he expected the baby to be in this world before he went to bed by 10! At that point my contractions really intensified and I spent every moment sitting on the birthing ball. It was so much more comfortable than the bed!
At 9 :15 or so I felt a load of pressure and I asked the nurse to check me. She said I was almost there but not quite. There was a lip of my cervix not quite stretched far enough. Well...that wasn`t going to stop my son from coming! With each contraction after that I could do nothing to stop him from crowning! He wanted out!!! So the nurse frantically called the labor and delivery staff to the room while I desperately tried to hold my son in. It only took 1 1/2 pushes and a small epesiotomy to get him out! The delivery was so fast!!! He joined us at 9:26 pm, crying and perfect! I guess the doctor was right!
Elijah has been a wonderful baby so far. He nursed right away and has done a fairly good job nursing at home as well. He sleeps in his own crib and doesn`t seem to bother his big sister and brother with his cries for food at night. Thank God! We feel beyond blessed to have our third healthy baby here with us and we praise God for his miracles every day. :o)
