Abigail-Markley`s birthstory
I woke up at about 3 in the morning and went out into the living room. At around 5am the contractions started. They weren`t much different than my serious period cramps. So I let my husband sleep for another 5 hours. That was a good thing because when he finally woke up he couldn`t sit still and was pinging off the walls! :) At around 2pm we called L & D and they said to come in. We arrived at the hospital around 3pm and was checked. We were 4-5cm so they admitted us. Contractions started to get much stronger and each one was tremendous pressure on my rectum. The need to push was unbelievable! I finally agreed to an epi because I couldn`t breathe through the contractions and the pressure was to much for me to keep up with! I was also stalled at 6 cm so they wanted to help me along and I wasn`t going to do that without pain relief! The doctor who put the epi in was awful! He was arguing over the proper use for words during the whole procedure. The nurse just kept asking him the same questions and he was just being a twit! I finally said just answer the question already! The epidural didn`t really help much. The pressure on the rectum was better but it didn`t do anything to help with the contractions. My right side never really got numb and with each contraction it just kept getting worse. I wasn`t able to rest or relax at all. During my pregnancy I had bad hip and pelvic pain on my right side so not having relief on that side was really bad. I`m not sure how long I actually pushed but eventually she came! The joy of seeing her was and still is to much to describe!!! At the time I wasn`t even aware of anything around me except her. It wasn`t until they were well into sewing me up that I found out I had a 3rd degree tear. Still I love her! My husband is overwhelmed with her. He`s been great. He was great during the pregnancy and I to everyone`s surprise was able to make it through the delivery without fainting!! :) He`s been so wonderful afterwards too. Makes sure I`m eating, getting enough water and sleeping enough. Thank you to all of you who answered my questions and was there everyday with the emotional support and encouragement! You all are wonderful ladies!! Good luck with all of your newest family members!
