After being 12 days overdue Olivia is here!

The whole experience was something that’s for sure! I had just gone to my drs appt on Monday and they put in for my induction and said not to expect anything for at least 8-10days, well wed morning Jacob and I had just woke up and had gone into the living room when the phone rang and it was the hospital asking if I could come in to get my induction started!! I said I could be there in about an hour, and then the freaking out began!! We took Jacob to Caras and then went to the hospital. When we got to triage it took them about an hour to get all the paper work ect done before they brought me in to put me on the monitor. I think it was about 10ish and they put me on the monitor and I was having contractions every 2-5 mins but nothing regular. My dr came and checked me and I was still 2ish cm dilated and 75% effaced. They told me they would get the Citocin started today but not to expect baby to come any time soon. He said maybe tomorrow afternoon!....little did he know! Lol! So he left and the nurse came in and told me to get dressed and go and have lunch and come back in an hour and a half and they would hopefully have a bed in L&D for us. So we did, came back just after 1 and they brought us to our room, we waited till about 330ish before they had a nurse for us, she came in and put in my IV and started my antibiotics, when she put me on the monitor I was having regular contractions every 2 mins I could start to feel them at this point but nothing painful. The nurse came in to check me at about 430 and I was 3-4 cms now, they got me to go for a walk to see if things would get going and I would progress on my own instead of being induced, so we walked and came back at 530, I was starting to feel contractions some more but nothing to bad, they got me to walk some more and I can back just after 6 because I couldn’t walk through the contractions they were getting so bad! She checked me again and I was 8cm!!! So I laboured on the ball for a bit and the contractions were getting pretty strong (I was starting to swear by this point lol!) so I asked for some Fentanyl at about 730 she checked me again and I was 9.5cms and bulging membranes! She asked if I wanted her to break my water, I told her if she was to make sure the dr was there because I had the urge to push and I knew baby was going to come as soon as it broke, so she called the dr and he came at around 8ish, they watched me labour a bit before they checked me, they checked me at about 820 or so and decided to break my water and then at 8:47pm Olivia was born! It went so fast! I felt great after she was born, but then about 20 mins after I had a whole bunch of clots and lost over a litre of blood, my blood pressure dropped really low and I got all dizzy and pale, then next thing I know there were a million people in the room and they were squishing my stomach to get the clots and stuff out, it was SOoooooo painful!! They gave me all these meds to contract my uterus and everything, I ended up with a urinary catheter as well, Wee! So now Im a bit on the weak side because my hemoglobin is really low, so I am on iron for the next month. I am feeling so much better now but the first few days were really draining, I just had no energy, I even had a hard time just holding Olivia it was really strange…

Feeling great now and just so blessed to have Olivia here! Jacob is just such a great big brother. I really couldnt be happier right now!
