Rosemary was born at 31 weeks on August 4th, 2007. Her due date was October 1st. She was born prematurely as a result of my severe preeclamspia and toxemia, which was a condition that caused my blood pressure to become uncontrollable and for my body to dangerously swell and leak protein into my urine. I was first hospitalized locally at 26 weeks and was in and out as my body fluctuated. I ended up being taken by ambulance to a special hospital 40 miles away with a great NICU where they tried for days to induce me with pitocin and magnesium and ended up performing an emergency c-section late at night. My daughter was born at 3lbs 10oz and dropped to 3lbs 4oz. The whole thing was really hard and kind of traumatic, but after 26 days my daughter came home, weighing 4lbs 12oz. It was beyond worth it, which is why I am going through all of it again!! This time I am having a boy who looks like he is coming at 35 weeks, which isn't quite as bad as with my daughter, although I still wish I could carry him to 36 or 37 weeks.
