Around 5 am on May 8th I begin to get contractions. I tried to go back to sleep b/c I was thinking they were too far apart at like 10 minutes apart. I was really thinking all theyll go away soon! Well around 5:50 am they were about 5 mintues apart so I took a shower. They continued on so I told my boyfriend I had to get to the hospital. We arrived there about 7:30 am and they checked me and said I was 4-5 cm dialated and 90% effaced. The nurse said the baby`s head was bulging (really low). She called my doctor and I was admitted at 8 am. I got my epidural at around 8:45 after the fluid was pumped in my iv at a rapid pace then my doctor came in to check me. He said I was around 5-6 cm dialated and 100% effaced then he broke my water. We found out that my baby had a bowel movement so he became concerned. He asked the nurse to give me pitocin to try and speed things up and thats when my babys heart rate dropped and my blood pressure decreased as well. He said we had to do an emergency c- section. At 10:10 am I was rushed in the operating room and my daughter was born at 10:37 am. The cord was wrapped around her neck and she swallowed some of the amniotic fluid. They took her to nicu and put her on oxygen where she stayed for about 4 hours then was released to the regular nursery. She is doing really good now. She is such a good baby and I am so happy. Things can happen so quick, just May 6, I was 2 cm dialated and only 50% effaced. I didnt do anything special to start labor or make myself dialate it just happened on its on.
