isabella`s birthstory

I went into hospital on Monday the 10th to be induced. I got my first induction and the nurse and doctor told my SO that it might be awhile and he should go home. Which was a good thing because nothing happened on Monday. So i was admitted into the hospital on monday, then on Tuesday the induced me again in the morning and nothing happened by 2 pm I was only dilated by 1cm, Then at 2:30pm they induced me again (all gels inductions) Nothing happened On wednesday the doctor was sure that i was going to be in labour or at least get to 2 - 3 cm so they could break my waters but when they checked my cervix i was only 1.5 cm and they refused to break my water so they gave me my fourth induction, then checked me at 2pm again and nothing had happened. I was starting to freak out and get emotional and I felt like i was a failure and i couldnt even get my baby out either. They said they would try once more and then if nothing happened by morning they would book me for a c - section. So i got my 5th gel induction and prayed and prayed because i really didnt want to have a c section and that night i walked up and down the corridor and stair like a ton of times and I am so glad i did. On thursday morning I was dilated 2 cm and the doctor broke my waters or at least tried. Then at 2pm they checked me and i was 3cm but not dilating fast enough and they said that the doctor never broke my waters properly. So they got a midwife to do it again and then i could tell it was done properley because it was runny down my legs. So they took me through to the labour ward at 2:30pm and stuck me with a drip which started to cause my uterus to contract. They said that they were going to check me in 2 hours and if i wasnt dilating enough they would do a c section, So i phoned my boyfriend and by the time he got there the contractions were getting sore. They checked me in 2 hours and i was only 5 cm dilated and they were not happy but thought that they would wait another hour just in case, By the time that hour was up i was begging for pain killers which they already gave me a pethadine injection and now i was getting gas and they gave me one more pethadine injection. (not that they injection helped at all it just made me very drowsy) I decided that i wanted the c section cause i was in so much pain and i was swearing at my SO and telling him that i hated him. Then the midwife checked me again at 5:30pm and i was 7cm and they said that they would do the labour naturally and not do a c section which made me cross cause i really got my mind focused on the fact that i was going to have one and i wasnt sure if i could deal with the pain for another 4 hours or so. I was crying and my so was trying so hard to help me. The worst part was that i kept getting sick and throwing up so i was hurting there too at one time I was in so much pain i tried to turn to relieve myself a bit and i ripped out my drip which they had to reinsert on my hand again. Then at 7pm I felt this urge to push and i told the midwives and they said okay and put my feet in stirrups and i pushed and then pushed and my SO said he could see Isabella's head. I pushed again and her head popped out and the cord was around her neck twice but not tightly (thank God) and the midwife took the cord off her neck. Told me to push again when i felt the urge and i did and out she popped. She cried instantly and they put her on my stomach while my SO cut the ambilical cord. She was beautiful and I was so happy. I didnt tear or get cut. They took her away and washed her down and weighed and measured her she got a 8 out of 10 in her first apgar test and 9 /10 in her second test. I am just amazed how wonderful our bodies are. Then on Friday Me and Isabella went home.
