Grant-Austin`s birthstory
Saturday I went to Boerne to have lunch with my mom. We went to my favorite sandwich place and then shopping. I had contractions all day but nothing painful or intense. Some minor period cramping, so I didn`t think much of it. Went back home just in time to meet the hubby at the house and head out to dinner. We were going out to celebrate our nieces birthday in Gruene. Had contractions through dinner. It started to rain and we were seated outdoors. So the party continued at our house for birthday cake. Still had contractions, needless to say the family was one edge and ready to all leave to go to the hospital. We decided to wait a couple of hours and then go in to the hospital. If it turned out to be real labor, then we would call everyone back. At 12:15 we left the house for the hospital. I knew it was realy labor on the way to the hospital when I started to squirm and grab the hand rails. My breathing was tough and I started breathing in and blowing out heavily. Upon arriving at the hospital, the nurse started asking questions, I pointed to my hubby and said ask him because I was having painful contractions. The anaethesiologist was busy and it was going to be 45 minutes before she could get to me. So, the nurse asked if I wanted some pain meds in my IV until then. I replied uhhnn, yes!!! Relief was quick and soothing. Epidural was given at 5:27 am, I was 5 cm dilated. I was in heaven till the time he was delivered. I was at 10 cm at 9:05 am. It took a while to clear the room of guests. Some wanted to stay. I practiced pushing with the nurse. Then pushed 3 real times for the nurse. She said, wow... You are pushing really well. STOP PUSHING. She said, I have to go get the doctor. My doctor came in and they set everything up. I pushed once. Then twice, his head came out, then three times and he was completely out... He cried only once. He was passed around to me, then the hubby, then grandma, then everyone else. I cried when I saw him and so did the hubby. Actually, everyone cried. Happy tears of joy!!! Whoooo hooo... It was all worth it!!!!
