On Monday, April 21/08 I woke up with some contractions that werent painful and didnt get closer or stronger in the 3 hours it was until my docs appointment. When I got there at 10am they checked my cervix and did yet another sweep (4th) and said I was the same I was last time so we set up the induction for Wednesday the 22nd at 2:30pm. Well as the day progressed the contractions got stronger and closer and I wanted to know if I was making any progress so we went down to LDR. After monitoring me for almost an hour, and checking my cervix they told me to walk around the hospital for 1-2 hrs to see if I could start dilating some more. Well after 2hrs of walking I went back and they checked me and I was the same so they sent me home. The doc did say she didnt think I would need the cervadil on Wednesday but as I wasnt dilating she suggested I take 2 Tylenol 3`s to help with the pain of the contractions and that maybe some sleep would make them stop. By that point I was ok with making them stop cuz if they werent doing anything I didnt want to feel them anymore. Well we came home and I fell asleep around 12:30am and slept until 4:15am when I woke up cuz of coughing. As soon as I opened my eyes I could feel the wetness in my undies and the back of my pants and thought I had peed the bed, even though I was wearing a pad. I got up and when I got to the washroom I thought for a sec that I had diarrhea in my undies too cuz there was some brownish green stuff in them. It wasnt until my head cleared a bit and I noticed I had been peeing for a long time so I smelled what was in my undies and it had no smell. I knew my water had broken then but it still wasnt gushing even a little. I stood up and sat back down 3 times and it stopped leaking. I went to the living and as I bounced on my ball I googled meconium and amniotic fluid and read some websites about it. I went to bathroom again a few minutes later when I felt wet again and it was the same as the time before so I went in and woke up my hubby and told him my water was broken. He got up and we left to drop off my 2 year old at my Moms. After we dropped her off we headed to Timmys for some java and just as we turned the last corner to the coffee shop and with a wee little contraction that I barely felt my water completely gushed!! It was soo bad. We got our coffees and went to LDR as soon as they saw the meconium I was hooked to the monitors and could only be off them long enough to pee. After a few hours with minor contractions they checked my cervix and I was still only 2cm and not dilating anymore, the nurse did seem hopeful though as she hooked up the pitocin. A couple hours after they started the pitocin so around 8am I was checked again and still hadnt changed, again the nurse was hopeful and said we still had a long way to go with the pitocin as it was only at 6 and could go to 24, whatever that meant. lol. After the last cervix check I asked if I could walk around, she tried hooking up this machine that would allow them to monitor the baby without me being in bed but it wouldnt work so she said she would talk to my doc about getting an internal monitor on the babys head. My doc thought it was good idea and I finally got it at about 10:15am. As soon as I stood up I got the worst contraction and the time of it was 10:19am... My hubby and I walked up to the waiting room where my Daughter, Mom, Sister, Niece and Great Niece were waiting which was 2 mins down the hall and by the time I got back my nurse saw me and her exact words were `OK Tiara back in bed its definatly time for your epidural` which I made sure everyone knew I wanted early and the epi lady was waiting for me. It was 10:30am-ish when she started trying to get the epi hooked up but for some reason she was having some problems, my hubby was beside himslef cuz my back was bleeding so bad and after 40mins my sister poked her head in my room and saw all the blood and she said it looked like there was an insicion in my back. Anyway.. she finally stopped poking and proding at about 11:10am and checked to see if I was frozen with a bag of ice.... I felt everything and she put in another syringe of medicine and checked again with the ice... Still I felt everything... she kept saying `just 20 mins and you wont feel anything, 20 mins you can do it`. Well between me screaming that I needed something to take away the pain and almost ripping off my hubbys shirt off and yelling at my Sister to get me a cloth for my belly the nurse decided to check me again and see where I was at... her exact words were `OMG Tiara your 10cm and the babys head is right there, I can see her head, Im sooo sorry!! Just give a push and it will take away the burning!!` She was right!! She called in my doc STAT and within a minute he was there throwing on his gown and he sat down and said `OK Tiara, give me a good push to your butt on the next contra....` I pushed on my next contraction 3 times and he said to hold on a second.... her head was out... It was the WORST pain Ive ever felt before... the burning is what was hell, but the actual pushing part was relieving.... One more push and her whole body was out, and just as my hubby said shes beautiful Tiara, the doc told my daughter she had a beautiful little sister. All I wanted to do was look down and see her and tried soooo hard to do it but I couldnt see anything but blood and green poop...lol.... My doc let my hubby cut her cord, and blood sprayed everywhere as he forgot to drain it first, lmfao... then he called in the NICU to check her out.... they scored her a 9 and 10 on her apgars and said she was perfect.... She weighed 6lbs 10.5oz and was 21 and a quarter inches when she was measured the next morning. After everything was over my doc changed her APGAR from a 10 to a 9 and said they can never be perfect, but other then that we all sat and joked about how fast it went once it started.... 1 hour and 1 minute after the first major contraction she was out.... 11:20am April 22, 2008. She looks identical to my 2 year old and we all love her very much!! Hope you all enjoyed my birth story and Im sooooooooo happy I got to have her on my own without being induced which is what I had hoped for the whole pregnancy!! Take Care everyone!! ;)
