Eleanor-Andrea`s birthstory
Eleanor was 4 days over-due, so we went in to be induced via Cenitec- a drug that only ripens the cervix. We received the drug at 9 am, and contractions began at 10 am. Eleanor had moved down, so I was moved back to 2 cm, but she was very low. We walked, bounced, and did what we could, but every new nurse kept checking and saying, `still a 2...sorry`... We didn`t see our doctor until 5:30 when we he had broke my water. Then...every new nurse from them on said, `still a 2, sorry...` So terribly frustrating. The contractions grew stronger and stronger until I opted for an Epidural. (Which, by the way, are sooo not as bad as everyone says they are. It was easy breezy as I received it!) From then on I was bed bound with my jello-legs that felt like they weighed 800 pounds. Around 11 the nurse told me that I was around a 3, which gave us hope. They told us that our next step was pitocin, or we`d end up in c-section. 5:30 am was my cut off time to have a c-section- they could not wait longer due to risk of infection with out the amniotic water. So they gave us small doses of pitocin. I slept for a little bit (yes, epidurals are awesome!) and by 1 I was surprised with, `Wow, you`re at a 7!` Yep, 20 minutes later she said, `oh, you`re complete, lets start pushing!` Yeah... I wasn`t ready then after all day of no change. So our doctor came as fast as he could, made it just in time. I pushed for 45 minutes with not much pain. She came out and made a little noise and then looked up at her mama for a few minutes quietly. She then nursed for AN HOUR! Yes, she`s a trooper! She figured it out right away and got a big meal right away. She weighed 7 lbs, 2 oz, 20 inches long. and scored 9/9 on her apgar, and has gotten 100% on all of her vitals and tests so far.
