Our little man was a pleasant surprise. Overall my pregnancy was ok as far as he was concerned but the entire time I measured atleast 3 weeks behind and only gained 10 lbs. this is probably b/c I was sssso sick from the time I got pregnant even until after delivery. I mean literally like throwing up atleast 10-20 times a day including vomiting in my sleep at night. I was admitted to the hospital several times due to dehydration. Another thing that complicated things was my best freind in the world- my father passed away unexpectedly. He was only 54 and had been married to my mom over 30 years. Being the only child I was there for my mom and it was very tough. I was so upset b/c daddy had expected and looked forward to his 1st grandbaby sssoooo bad. At 39 weeks he was still measuring very small so they decided to induce b/c he was not thriving in the womb. I got to the hospital on Dec 4th 2007 at 8pm as instructed but was sent home b/c many otherwomen were actually in labor already. When we got back home I actually started early labor on my own since my midwife had stripped my membranes that morning. We got back by 11pm and they admitted me. I was'nt dialating or anything despite the fact that my contractions were coming on much faster so by 10am that monring after no sleep and agonizing pain they gave me an IV with some meds and broke me water for me. I still was not dialting so they administered pitocin. By 3pm I was only about at 2cm but they went ahead and gave me an epidural. By 5pm I was 10 cms and literally pushed for 5 minutes. Asa came out perfect 6lbs and 18 inches long. He was the perfect infant and is still a great joy even as a toddler about the enter his terrible 2's. We are so blessed and love our lil man more than we do ourselves. Pregnancy and labor is such an amazing experience and a wonderful thing to experience with your partner. The best part was that Asa arrived on Dec 5th- my late father's birthday!!!

Adalyn-Isabella-Adkins`s birthstory

Went in at 5am for induction due to lower fluid and pain. I was having regular but painless contractions already and started out at almost 4cm, effaced and her all the way down. Pitocin administered at 7:30 am. Contractions were regular but not progressing my dialation - so they broke my water at Noonish time. I was a little over 5cm by 2pm. Literally by 3:00pm I had gone from a 5 to a 9- major contractions and pressure. I acutally felt everything b/c the epi- did NOT take correctly. I got to a 10 and literally pushed for 15-20 min. I was worried b/c when the had broken my water they discovered merconium so they had the Neonatal and Respitory Dept. standing by. But, she was crying and gorgeous and breathing perfectly. She is perfect. I bled too too much so had to have several shots after passing out- but Im feeling better now!!! I did not tear or anything. I love her so much- her daddy is soooo excited!!!! thanks everyone!!! (Remember the discovered her echogenic intracardial focus in her ultrasounds???) it was as if they should not have even told me b/c her heart is perfect!!! Prayer works everyone!!!
