James-Jefferson`s birthstory

began having mild contractions at 9:00 am ... by noon they`d gotten worse and were every 2-4 minutes apart lasting between 35 and 45 seconds. we went to the doctor to be safe, but thought it maybe a false alarm as they got so close together so quickly. Got to the doctor`s at 2:30 - she said I was at a 3, but since I lived a little farther away, they`d get me admitted now but to expect baby between 8:00 and 10:00 that nite. Was in the delivery room by 3:15 ... around 4:45 when the nurse came to check on me, I was dilated to a 10! I had the baby at 4:56 - w/o any medicine (not even an IV!). James breathed in meconium when he was born, so we didnt` get to hold him right away. They had to suction out his stomach and his nose and monitor his little lungs for a while to make sure he didn`t inhale it too deeply. He had GREAT saturation levels of oxygen in his blood and we were able to keep him in the room with us! He took to breastfeeding immediately and only cries when he`s hungry or wet. He was born with a full head of hair and is simple perfect. we are sooo lucky!
