Everett-Riley-Alexander`s birthstory

I woke up at 6 am on tuesday may 6th with what felt like gas pains, i lay in bed for another 20 minutes or so until i felt like i just couldn`t lay down any longer, and i got up and went to the bathroom in case it was just pains from having to go #2 (haha), afterwards i went and sat down at my computer with contractions that would come and go about every 10 minutes, and once again, i couldn`t sit through them, i had to stand up. soon it got to the point where i wasn`t able to sit down at all, and i stood up and walked around from 7:30 am til about 8, when i finally decided that this was the real thing. i freaked out and called 911, since my mother was out of town and the baby`s father i wasn`t able to reach the first time, they timed my contractions and sent an ambulance on its way.
getting into the ambulance was easy, and the ride wasn`t bad either, my contractions were timed at about 4 minutes apart. as they were wheeling me in, this lady had the audacity to stop the emt`s and ask them where the north entrance was. i snapped my head around so fast and told her, `figure it out your damn self, in case you can`t tell, i`m in labor.` when i reached the maternity assesment center at around 9:15, they plugged me up to a contraction analyzer and a fetal heart monitor, and took a little blood work, they couldn`t find my records (my luck) and so they had to run all the tests again. my contractions were irregular coming at 2-6 minutes apart, and i was 4cm dialated at this point.
they finally wheeled me up to L&D at about 11, where my nurses and doula were amazing, and helped me work through the contractions while we were waiting on the blood work so i could have my epidural. i was about 6cm, and they also put me on a mild drip of oxytocin, because i had a reaction to the stuff previously. i was FINALLY given the epidural at 2:15, and from then on i was a happy camper. my contractions were still very irregular, coming in clusters from 2-6 minutes apart.
at 8:00, my doc came in and announced that i was 8 cm, and it was time to break my water, i had also apparently had a high leak. after he broke my water, things really started to slow down with no real progress til they made me lay partially on my belly to help push him down, after about 2 hours of that, the contractions started coming closer and closer together, aout a minute inbetween each. i roled onto my back where i felt something coming out, assuming it was just fluid, i asked them to change the pad since it felt like a lot. my nurse looked down and said, was there muconium when he broke her water? which scared me to death, this was around 11:30, and at 12:05, they told me to start pushing. i pushed for 45 minutes, and i had to have an episiotomy because he wasn`t coming out like he should. he was absolutely perfect, the special care unit too him to be cleaned and checked from signs that he inhaled the muconium, and there were none. he scored an 8. he was born at 12:45 on may 7th, which was my due dater. i`m one of the 5%, the doctors also said besides the episiotomy, i was the most textbook case of labor they`d seen in a long time. i was so lucky, my doctors were so amazing, and i`m proud to be a mama! i never thought i would be so in love with someone i`ve only known less that 48 hours. he is truly a miracle.
