Zane Charles was born October 14, 2012 at 3:12am weighing 7lbs, 13oz, and 21 inches long.
I went to the hospital Thursday night (10/11/12) to be induced due to high blood pressure. I got to the hospital that night and knew it was just for the cervadil to be administered. I knew I would not be having him that night. Well I had to have my last meal before I got to the hospital since I wouldnt be allowed to eat after that so I tore some Mexican food up! Got to the hospital and got my IV ready and the cervadil put in place and an Ambien to help me sleep. Friday morning the nurse came in to check me and I was only 1 cm dialated so they started the pitocin. Every hour they came in and uped the dosage of the pitocin! Hours later still only 1 cm dialated and no contractions so they stopped the pitocin and said they were going to try the induction again. So Friday evening I was able to have a meal again (thank goodness), got the cervadil again and an ambien. Saturday morning the nurse came in to check me and I was now at 2cm...woo hoo making slow progress. So they started the pitocin again and uped it every hour again. Finally around 12pm I got to 3cm so my doctor came in and broke my water...holy hell was that painful. In the meantime the monitor wasnt reading my contractions correctly so they had to do an internal monitor...again painful! Well about 5pm my contractions were going strong and I was beginning to get really uncomfortable so I got my epidural and waited. Well I could still feel everything on my right side so they came back in and adjusted the catheter in my back thinking that may have something to do with it and uped my dosage. Well still could feel everything so they had to come back and re-do the epidural...AWESOME right!?!? Finally got some relief and was able to try and get some sleep. Well as soon as I doze off the nurse comes running in and says I need you to flip to the other side I think you may be laying on the cord. So I flip and close my eyes again...well she comes running in again and I flip again. Now this happened about 2 more times before she checks me again and I am 6cm and 90 percent effaced. However, the left side of my cervix started swelling so she calls my doctor. Well I was being wheeled back and being prepped for surgery within 15 minutes after the nurses phone call to my doctor...then 12 minutes later my little man was born! After he was born I got all stiched up and wheeled back to my room and began to get really itchy and uncomfortable and the nurses just told me it was probably the epidurals wearing off so I didnt think anything of it. I finally get home and I was put on bed rest even after I had him due to my blood pressure still being high and still itching like crazy and now breaking out everywhere. I call my doctor a few days later and tell them whats going on so I go in and come to find out I was having an allergic reaction to the perkaset so I had to be put on a steroid for that and iron pills since my iron showed to be low! So after a very eventful delivery I am happy to have my little guy here! As of right now the thought of another little one doesnt even cross my mind after this delivery but I know each one is different and now I would know what to expect (another c-section) but right now I am good. I am not ruling out another one completely but not anytime soon haha!
