Matthew-El-Beleidy`s birthstory
I was sitting comfortably at home on Friday, Oct. 10th. I was going to bed at about 11:00pm. I went to the bathroom at about 11:30pm, just to pee, and then when I was on my way back to bed, water started gushing out of me. I couldn`t believe I was peeing without even trying, but then I realized that I wasn`t peeing, MY WATER BROKE!!!
I was SHOCKED, as I was only 37 weeks pregnant. I had been losing my mucous plug, but the Dr. had checked me the day before, and she said I wasn`t dilated, and that I could go on without the mucous plug for the rest of the 3 weeks.
I had planned that weekend to wash the baby`s clothes, and put all the rest of the stuff together (playard, swing, stroller, car seat, etc...) Obviously, it never happened.
Well, I called my parents, since the baby`s father is in Dubai for work reasons, and we went to to the hospital.
Even though my water broke on its own, I wasn`t dilated, and wasn`t contracting, so they decided to start pitocin. I wanted to progress on my own, but the nurses told me it would be best if I had a little help.
I started contracting on my own before they actually administered the pitocin, but I couldn`t change the nurse`s mind, so I went along with it. At about 11:30am, on Sat. Oct. 11th, I got the epidural. I was 3 centimiters dilated. My goal was 4 or 5, but what the heck.
I started prgressing really well, by 4:00pm I was 9cm. dilated. The Dr. thought the baby was going to be out by 8:00pm. SHE WAS WRONG!
The baby was ready, I was 10cm dilated, 100% effaced, and 0 station when I felt ready to push at 2:00am on Sun. Oct. 12th.
I pushed for 2 and a half hours, I was EXHAUSTED!!! They gave me another Bolus of Epidural, and they let me sleep for 2 hours, but they expected me to keep pushing. My mom who was there with me said: `absolutely not, this baby`s not coming out`. The nurses checked me, and the baby hadn`t made any progress, although thank God he never presented fetal suffering.
The Dr. then decided I was DONE, and took me to OR to have a C-section.
I was at the OR at 8:00am, by 8:44am, I met MY LITTLE BOY!!!
I was discharged on Thurs. Oct. 16th, and the baby had his circumcision that same day. I also got my staples removed before discharge.
I am very happy, even though it was such a hard labor, it was worth it. GOD BLESS ALL YOUR BABIES, as I now know what a miracle this is.
