Julianna-Mya-Bush`s birthstory
Wednesday night: We got to the hospital to be induced with cervidal to efface and dilate my cervix because I was overdue and only a fingertip dilated.
Thursday 8am: Doc checked me and I was only 25% effaced and 1 cm dilated, she suggested we do a 2 day induction and began Pitocin. I had contractions all day and night.
Thursday night: Doc checked me and I was STILL 1 cm dilated and now about 50% effaced. Had pitocin all night long. My left side of my body began to swell sometime through the night.
Friday 9am: Doc checked me and I was 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated (not much improvement), she broke my water and turned up the pitocin again. I was checked throughout the day as the contractions got worse, but I still wasn`t dilating and got to about 75% effaced. My body was NOT working with me. I got an epidural sometime in the afternoon. This worked for about an hour but never took away the pain on my left side and made me much more swollen on my right side. I got a few boluscs(sp) of the epidural pain meds put in my back to help try to get the left side numb. I was hurting so bad and so tired I begged my doc to give me a c-section to just get this over with as my body was still not cooperating. She agreed and said I had to wait about 1 1/2 hours because there was someone in there right now who was having complications and they turned off the pitocin. I waited and at about 6ish I felt as if I had to use the bathroom. The doc checked me and I was 9cm and completely effaced. I started pushing soon after that only to find out that Julianna`s head was faced up and to the side making it very hard for her to fit through my pelvis. A vacuum was used to try to pull her in the right direction but they wasn`t helping. The doc said we might have to do a c-section because she wasn`t going to fit.....then all of a sudden Julianna got herself together and turned her head in the right direction and she was born at 8:40pm on Friday night. She weighs in at a whopping 9lbs 2 ounces and 21.5 inches long! Thankfully I didn`t tear and didn`t need an epistomity (sp?). No one could believe I could carry such a large baby because of my short stature of only 5 foot.
We stayed in the hospital until Sunday afternoon and we have been doing good ever since.

My due date was March 11th and it came and went with no excitement. I was scheduled to go in for an induction on the 17th because I was overdue. We got to the hospital around 9:30pm and the nurse checked me and I was already at 4cm! I hadn't felt any contractions and had no idea. The day before I had a check-up and I was 1 cm. They called my doc to tell her and they said there wasn't any use doing the cervadil because I was already 4 cm. They sent me home and told me they would call me in the morning to come back and they would start the pitocin. We got home around 11:30 and I took a shower and went to sleep. At 2am I woke up and had contractions every 5-7 minutes. They went even closer to 3-5 minutes, I called the doctor and she said to wait until they were 2-3 minutes and head to the hospital. I was nervous because it was the middle of the night and I didn't want to have to rush to the hospital with my 16 month old daughter until my friend could come pick her up. The contractions calmed down back to 5-6 minutes apart. The hospital called at 6:30 and told us to come in. We got ready and dropped our daughter off at daycare. When we got to the hospital I was at 5 cm and then at 6cm, the contractions were really intense and I got my epidural. I almost passed out when they did it because my blood pressure went too low, I think it was 84/44. After the epidural I didn't feel any contractions and they started some pitocin to speed up the labor. My mom got the hospital around 12ish and I was at 9cm. I was complete and ready to push around 1:15, it might have even been before then. They didn't want me to push because my doctor was delivering another baby at the same time. I just breathed through the urges to push and felt the baby come down the birth canal. The doctor came in and I pushed once and half the baby's head came out! Two more pushes and baby Alex was born!! The cord was wrapped really tight around his neck so the doc had to cut his cord. He was a bit purple so they put him on the table and were about to give him oxygen and then he started crying. I was part of a new program the hospital is doing where they do everything to the baby in the room. They weigh, measure, and give him a bath and all right in the delivery room so they aren't separating baby and mom. It was pretty neat to see it all except for the nurses arguing with one another because I was the first patient to have it done. After they washed him up he started breastfeeding like a pro and has been great ever since.
