Aadens birthstory
I Went in to the hospital to be induced. I wanted to avoid Pitocin so my midwife ruptured my membranes and pushed on my uterus to get much of the water out. It really hurt so much more than I expected. As soon as she broke my water, contractions started immediately. She had me put warm packs on my breasts and stimulate my nipples to help things along, which worked but was awkward having my mom, husband and nurses watch. The first two hours I was able to deal with contractions with breathing but then the contractions became intense very quickly and they seemed unbearable. They let me get in the jacuzzi tub which helped relax me some in between contractions but I was still screaming and moaning during contractions and felt like pushing. I got out of the tub for them to check me and I was only 7cm and felt like I couldn`t do it anymore. I started pushing with each contraction because thats what I felt like doing and they were yelling at me to stop but I had to push. They let me pick which position to deliver and I chose my hands and knees which felt more comfortable .My midwife streched my cervix and helped me dilate to ten within a few minutes and I finally could push which I did for about 5 min and he was out. I couldn`t believe how cute and perfect he was and of course I cried and was very emotional. After dad cut the cord the midwife and nurses played with it to see the single umbilical artery and she said it was the thickest single umbilical artery she had ever seen and more than made up for the artery that was missing. (All that worry for nothing)They layed him on my chest and I nursed and held him for almost 2 hours before they took him to the nursery. Overall a great birth experience.
