Connor-Paul`s birthstory
So it started out as any other night. I went for a walk with my sister and then came home. I went to bed at a decent hour but couldnt fall asleep. I finally fell asleep around 11:30pm. At 12:03am I woke up having REALLY bad pains. I ignored it because I assumed it was nothing. I woke up 7 minutes later. Again, I ignored it. And AGAIN I woke up 7 minutes later. This is when I started thinking something could be happening. I told my husband what was going on and we timed everything. An hour of this going on we called labor and delivery. They told me to stay home until they were 5 minutes apart. Well about a half hour later they started to be 5-6 minutes apart. We called labor and delivery at 2:30am and told them we were coming in. I got dressed and as I stood up from putting my shoes on my water broke! I told my husband and he said `really?` and I said `well either that or I peed my pants and it wont stop!` LOL We got to the hospital and it was definetly my water that broke. They admitted me and I was 90% effaced and 1 1/2cm. They gave me statol (spelling, sorry) and I fell asleep. About 3 hours later the dr came in to check me and I hadnt progressed at all. They decided to give me pitocin....which is evil!!! My contractions were so strong that all I could do was squeeze my eyes together, hold onto the bed, and say `ow.` After about 4 hours I was finally 4cm and 100% and they agreed to give me an epidural. I was a totally different person after that! I couldnt feel anything and I felt like myself. I went to sleep for about 2 hours. I was woken up to them putting oxygen on my nose because the babys heartrate had dropped. Luckily it was just because he had moved down into the birth canal quickly and it was a shock to him. About a half hour later around 11:30am my dr said it`s time to push. I pushed and pushed and since I couldnt feel anything not much was happening. I was determined to push him out so I kept going and eventually got the urge to push. An hour and a half later...at 1:02pm my son was born. I have to say that I impressed myself because I wasnt a screamer or mean. I cried and moaned a little bit but that was it! It was an amazing experience and everything was totally worth it.
