My Birth Story is a complicated one, my pregnancy was perfect. Figures. Can't have both I guess. Well, at my 40week appointment I still hadn't dialated at all and the doctor couldnt do a membrane sweep like we were hoping to get things going. So, since my husband is deployed and he was going to be in port the 5th of april we wanted to make sure he would be on the boat to get the phone call of when I was in labor. So, we scheduled my induction for the night of April 2nd for cervical ripening and then pitocin in the morning. I was terrified and excited all at once. The night of April the 2nd I checked into the hospital and get settled and get my IV started and cervadil put in my cervix for ripening. Nothing big happens through the night, some mild cramping, then 7am rolls around and they start the pitocin and check me, Im barely a 1. My contractions start to get a little stronger,and Im checked again around 9am and Im a "good"2cm, my doctor decides to break my water, which because I wasnt very dialated was excurtiatingly painful, when she finally breaks my water she says the baby has pooped in the water and its pretty thick. She said is happens sometimes and that they are going to monitor the baby closely. Well around 10am the nurses and my doctor start coming in more often and my contractions are getting pretty uncomfortable so they call the anesthesiologist to put my epidural in, which went off without a hitch and I was numb and then they put my cathater in and I was finally comfortable and felt like things would finally progress. Well around 11am, my doctor comes back in with 3 nurses and they start turning me from side to side and put an oxygen mask on me as I was talking to my husband on the phone overseas, I wasnt sure what was going on, but the dr looked paniced. I get off the phone with me husband and the doctor YELLS quiet to everyone and looks at me and says were going to have to take you for an emergency C-section right now baby isnt tolerating the contractions. I start to cry hysterically because my husband was gone, I had great friends with me mind you but no one can replace your husband. I was terrified for my baby and about the surgery. They unlock my bed and wisk me down the hallway, as Im being rolled into the surgery room the anesthesiologist is tapping off my epidural to make sure Im numb. I wasnt in the OR for maybe 5min when my beautiful baby girl Lillian Sierra was born. It was the scariest and happiest day of my life!! I got to see her for a second before they wisked her to the nursery for evaluation. 2 hours later in recovery I finally got to see my baby girl. Instant Love and worth every minute...I wish my story stopped there but it doesnt. The next morning they took out my catheter and I wasnt able to pee on my own. It was so painful that they had to catheterize me again to drain the pee, then they gave me 6hours to try on my own again, with no success. So I ended up with a catheter for the night and currently still have one in. my doctor then came in and said that I will probably have to go home with it and have it in until friday and then they will remove it in the office and try and retrain my bladder and then I have to pee on my own before Im let to leave. If I dont pee on my own then I have to learn to catheterize myself until my bladder heals. Im devastated over this news. My husband comes home from an 8month deployment in 2 weeks and I dont want his first impression of me to be with a catheter. Im doing bladder training today, hoping it works. Please pray it does. Its all worth it, I wouldnt trade her for anything...
