Drew-Miles-Stanton`s birthstory
We were scheduled to be induced as you all know last Tuesday at 5:00 AM and last Monday morning at 6:30 AM my water broke. I just about flipped out! I couldn't believe "how much" of it there was.
We got ready and went to the hospital and got to Triage by 8:30 AM. They asked alot of questions and then took me back to one of the rooms pretty quickly. They hooked me up to an IV and the nurse (who was wonderful) came in and hooked up two different monitors on me. One to ck the baby's heartbeat and the other to see "when" the contractions were happening. Well, I was at 3 cm when she checked me and then I went to 4 within about 2 1/2 hours. So now it's 11:00 and the contractions are very strong and they are starting to hurt. They sent me upstairs to one of the birthing rooms and within the 20 minutes it took them to wheel my wheelchair (while having these God forsaken contractions) and get me upstairs, I had dilated to 8!!! The nurse started to yell out into the hallway that things were moving very fast and they needed to have the Anesthethiologist come in to hurry up and give me an epidural before the pain got much worse. (honey, the pain couldn't have gotten much worse) LOL
So my Dr. came in and couldn't believe how well I was doing and told me that it shouldn't have been much longer after that. Well, because I was now between 8 & 9 cm dilated the anesthethiologist told me that after the birth, I might be a bit more sore from the epidural because I was so far dilated. (She was right. My lower back is still very sore and I can't sit for a long period of time). Anyway, after the epidural I could feel the pain just go away. THAT was great. I could still feel the pressure of the baby's head dropping further and further. Well, then, the contractions slowed waaaaaay down and after about an hour they gave me some Pitocin. (Go juice) Yeppers, that did it!!! The contractions started coming faster and faster and at 1:15 PM I started pushing with all my strength. 3:00 PM I gave the hardest push of my life. With Patrick (hubby) right there and the nurses telling me that I was so close, I just gave it my all. I felt like at that moment, Drew was stuck and I couldn't get him out. But At 3:03 PM Baby Drew made his grand appearance and it was truly incredible. 7 lbs 10 oz and 20 inches long with 10 fingers and 10 toes!!! Healthy baby boy. As soon as he came out the Dr. put him right on my belly and I thought it was all a dream. I just couldn't believe that I had done it. He was finally in my arms and I DID IT!!! Patrick cut the cord at that point and then they cleaned him up. WOW!!! Once they handed him back to me, I just kept on crying. Patrick cried too. What an incredible and beautiful experience. All that work for the last 9 months has finally paid off. Not one little mark on him, no cone head, no nothing. Just so amazing. PERFECT! They did have to do an episiotomy because I started to tear at the end, so I'm still recovering from that as well. Just takes me a bit of time to move around. We got home from the hospital around 10:00 PM Wednesday night and it's been go, go, go, since we got home. I'm trying to rest when he sleeps which is good, and my parents are here and have been wonderful too. Patrick is so wonderful with Drew and he is such a good little baby. Mommy here got to change the first "poopy" diaper yesterday AND I got pee'd on too. hahaha
All on MOTHER"S DAY too!!! hahahaha
Well, this morning we've woken up to his little eye is weeping some puss stuff so we are going to the Pediatrician at 11:45 AM. My mom and dad are driving us over there since I can't drive for another 3 weeks still.
