Luke-Michael`s birthstory
After much consideration, we decided not to go forward with a VBAC trial, and scheduled a consult with a surgeon on March 26th, and March 28th was our CSection date - being 38+3.
My DH and I drove to the hospital at 6:30am, and I checked in for blood work, etc at 7am.
I changed, washed down, and had my IV hook ups inserted and went to the operating room.
Once there the team started with the epidural and spinal freezing - which was a bit painful, and took longer than my previous one (which was an emergency).
I was nervous.
Then I lay down, the drape was put up and my husband came in. The team felt my tummy and waited till the freezing took full effect. The surgery was like being at the dentist - you `feel movement` but no pain... then some pushing pressure as they pushed down on my tummy and popped the baby out.....and then we heard him cry!
It made me cry.
They carried him tot he table and washed him off, my DH cut the cord and then they brought him over to me to see... his hair was dark, face all squishy...just beautiful.
Then the long wait to be stitched up.... and rolled to the recovery area.
I was then able to hold my baby, and started to Breastfeed right away. I was still BFing my 2yr old so my milk was already in.... such a difference than the first time around.
I was blessed with a wonderful nursing staff who helped me in recovery for 5 days (and a doctor who let me have extra time so I could sleep before having to return home to a busy household).
