Birth Story
We arrived at the hospital for a scheduled induction at 5:00 in the morning they checked us in got me hooked up to the monitors, put my iv's etc...etc. About 6:00 they started me on the pitocin the goal was to get my contractions to where they were 2-3 minutes apart. They definitely picked up but weren't that painful. About 7:00 my Dr showed up he administered my epidural and broke my water while checking me, I was still 3cm and 80%. Labor definitely became more painful after my water was broken. I had about 3 or 4 good contractions before the epidural kicked in and WOW they were intense. About 8:45 my nurse checked my progress I was now fully effaced and at a 7! I never in a million years thought I would progress that quickly. Contractions continued and the pressure became more and more intense until it was pretty much constant. she checked me again about 10:15 and I was fully dialated and she started to get things ready for me to push. About 10:35 we started pushing without the Dr. He arrived about 10:55 her head was right there starting to crown at that point. He did end up using forceps on her but only to help turn her underthe pubic bone. After she was crowned he removed them, before I knew it they were saying keep pushing keep pushing it seems like I pushed for a solid 4 minutes finally her head and shoulders were both out and they were cleaning off her face and sucking out her nose and mouth. The first thing I noticed were her dimples, she looks so much like her daddy. The Dr. had me hold her hands and I got to help deliver the rest of her. Russell cut the cord and the rest is history. It was the single most amazing moment of my life, I look back on it in awe, I can't believe she is here and I can't believe I had a 9lb baby! I am so in love with her... and terrified all at the same time.
