not-sure-yet!`s birthstory
Woke with lower sharp back pain and pressure at 4:30 in the morning.I timed a few pains and they were 10mins apart,I was still heaitant to believe it was labour though. My husband woke to find me clutching th epillow in agony and he made the callk to the hospital! I tried the shower to see if that would ease it but the pain was escalating quickly. By the time we reached the hospital the contarctions were 2mins apart and the hospital s only 5mins from us,it was difficult to walk in and up to the birthing unit. They monitored the baby and felt his position and checked me inside. I was 3-4 cms dialated. I spent alot of time in the shower and then when they needed to check baby again I fouynd being on my knees leaning over the head of the bed with a pile of pillows was as comfortable as I was going to get at that stage. The pain and pressure in my lower back and around my bottom was intense but by that time they said I could push which I really wanted to do.My waters suddenly broke and then I wanted to keep pushing. The feeling of him coming out was amazing, it was the best thing.

Jensen`s birthstory
Contractions started at 15 minutes apart but only lasting 15 secs at 1130pm,Pete suggested timing them but after a few I stopped as they were still remaining fairly mild and not progressing. We both got some sleep but I woke up a few times aware that I was still in a bit of discomfort. I woke up at 5am with a severe pain around my tailbone that I couldnt speak through and I knew that this was the start of labour and then 8 minutes later I got another, they were still only lasting 15seconds though. Pete rang the maternity unit and they suggested a bath to see f that would stop the labour as they thought it was only early stages and I was 36 weeks. Pete wasnt to happy with that as he remembered how quick my last labour was but he ran me a bath and gave me 10 minutes to sit in it but that was it! By that time it was obvious that the labour was not going to stopped and contractions were lasting 45 seconds and I could speak or move through them. My eldest son Andrew was woken up to help watch his little brother who was still asleep so they snuggled up in our bed to wait for my parents to arrive. Pete bundled me up in the car and we got to the hospital at 630am it was the first time I didnt nag him about speeding but Im sure I saw 140 on the speedo between contractions. The walk up the birthing unit was the worst, waiting for the lift and then finding the doors locked and not knowing how to get them opened,I was looking at the public toilet and hoping my baby wouldnt be born in there. luckily a nurse just happened to open the doors after 5 minutes and walk out. The midwives were great and the rest of my labour was good. I had back labour the whole way but I felt in control of my pain and contractions and was able to work with them well this time so it made it a more positive labour,Jensen arrived at 752am. He started crying straight away which was a relief but very small.Pete was a great support and didnt let me go the whole time.
