Amelia-Rose`s birthstory

My waters broke at 00:30am on Aug 18th. Went to the birth center at 7:00am and was told to drink caster oil and to come back when labor had started. Contractions started at 3:00pm and I went back to the birth center at 7:00pm. They told me I was only 2 cm dilated and to come back in a few more hours. Went back in a lot of pain at 11:00pm and was told that I was in active labor. Was in active unmedicated labor for approximately 10 more hours and was 10 cm dilated and had started to push when, for no reason, the contractions slowed down. They gave me some herbal stuff to get them going again and told me to rest for an hour. I fell asleep and when I woke an hour later I was in so much pain that I couldn`t cope any more. I was transferred to the hospital at 11:00am and they told me that I was now only dilated 5 cm! They gave me pitocin and an epidural and said I needed to rest. The doctor checked me a couple of hours later an told me she was `sunny side up` which is maybe why I couldn`t push her out at the birth center. He tried to turn her the right way without success. They kept increasing the pitocin over the next 8-9 hours until at 9:00pm they said I was 10 cm and I started pushing again. I was pushing for 3 solid hours and the doctor said it was looking like a c-section, unless I wanted to try the vacuum. I was very wary about that, but I said maybe we could just try it for 2-3 contractions. The suction was put on her head and the next contraction I pushed as hard as I could and all of a sudden there she was. The most beautiful thing I`ve ever seen! Total time from water breaking to delivery was 48 hours.
