Cole-Sawyer`s birthstory
I will start by saying I am such a proud momma to two beautiful boys!! I love them so much and am so excited to see what God has in store for our family.
At my 37 week Dr. appt. I found out I was 4 cm dialated. The Dr. thought I would go into labor very soon and didn’t even think we need to set up the induction time, but since he was going on vacation that Saturday I was not taking any chances and set up the time for Thursday, March 20th. That night of my Dr. appt. and the whole next day at work I felt like I could go into labor at any moment. I was experiencing contractions on and off... Then Wednesday I felt better and was so excited to go in the next day to finally meet the baby!!
So, I was given pitocin at about 9am... started feeling contractions about every 2-3 min. but they were tolerable... I was extremely anxious to get the show on the road since Canden took so long, I was not wanting another day like that! I was still 4 cm when I arrived to the hospital. The Dr. checked me at noon and said I was a 5, he offered to break my water and of course I agreed to get things moving... well after that I visited with Canden, Katie and Kristin for a few minutes and decided that they better wait in the waiting room because the pain almost became intolerable so fast! contractions still about every 2 minutes and lasting about a minute each. I wanted to go without the epidural so I sent the Dr. back to work without getting it... well that is when things got INTENSE!!! Owie was about the only word in my vocabulary at this time... I started feeling a lot of pressure so the nurse checked me and I think I was at 8cm at this time... I decided they better go ahead and get me that epidural, in the moment you pretty much think you are going to die if you have to feel another contraction... it was actually good that I asked for the epidural because my Dr. came back to give it to me and things went really fast from this point on... I think it was about 1:20p when he came in to relieve my agony and by the time he got it in and promised me relief in about 5 minutes I felt like I had to push NOW... and I ment NOW! The baby was coming... So they checked me again, 10cm! Yay, I could start pushing... I got to watch Cole Sawyer being born with the help of a mirror, it was seriously the most beautiful thing ever! I think I probably pushed 6 times and he was born! I seen the little boys business and knew before the Dr. yelled boy that we were blessed with another little boy. Cole was born at 1:35pm. He was placed on my belly right away and put his hand on my face... I fell in love immediately, he looked just like Canden. I was bawling at this point. Then I looked at Curt and said we can have another one right?? Its the best feeling in the entire world, nothing will ever compare!! Telling Canden that he had a little brother now was pretty special too, I guess the first thing Canden said to Cole was `get a shirt on now!!` He is so bossy, I have no idea where he would get that?! Cole weighed in at 8lbs 6 oz. 21 inches long. He is doing so good, he really hardly ever cries... he has been sleeping with mommy and we both love it:) Today was his first Dr. appt and he is 2oz. from his birth weight so he is doing excellent, a good little eater. Its almost all we get accomplished in a day! Canden loves him so much, he’s ready for a partner in crime! Having Cole has made me realize how grown up Canden has become and how fast it all goes! I want to freeze every moment and relive it over and over! Cole does have to get his hearing tested again in a couple weeks but he should pass without any trouble. Overall, this delivery was much much quicker than my first and I wish I wouldn’t have bothered with the epidural since I didn’t even get to enjoy it. I am so glad we were surprised, I would do it again like that in a heartbeat! I am so thankful for all my family and friends that were there to support me and have been supportive since Cole’s birth, you all are awesome and much appreciated!
