Carissa-Rihanna-Rolon`s birthstory
I went in to be induced at 6:30 am. I was already having strong contractions at 2-5 min apart so I would have ended up in the hospital that day anyway. My doc did decide to start the pitocin at about 8:30 am and broke my water at about 9:30 or so. Then at around 11am the baby`s heart rate started dropping to the low 30`s. About 9 people rushed into my room and gave me an oxygen mask and had me roll over from side to side trying to get the baby`s heart rate up. They also stopped the pitocin and gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop contractions. Nothing was working so they started getting me ready for an emergency c-section. Then all of a sudden her heart rate came back up to the safe zone. My BF is looking like he just saw a ghost and I`m worried the baby might not make it. So they left me with the oxygen mask on and asked me to stay in the bed in an almost upside down position for a while. I fell asleep for about an hour. I woke up and felt ok. My doc told me we were just waiting for the terbutaline to wear off and my contractions to start up again. At about 2pm or so they started up again at 5 min apart. My doc started the pitocin again cause my contractions were weak and she figured I would never dilate like this. I was maybe at a 3cm. Then, her heartrate went down again. I was flipped from side to side until it went up. My doc figured her cord must be pinched cause any slight movement was lowering her heart rate to a dangerous level. She told me I could not deliver vaginally like this as I needed to change positions occasionally. So she decided to do a c-section to make sure the baby would not be harmed. Of course I agreed, but it was the last thing I wanted. Within 30 min I was in the OR and my baby was born. The cord was wrapped tightly around her neck. The c-section itself went well. The spinal block was not painful at all and the cutting and pulling out of the baby was just weird cause I felt the pulling and pressure inside me but no pain. She is the most beautiful little thing I ever saw. She scored very well on her apgar. She got a 9 in both the 1min and 5min check. So thank god for that. I was moved into a recovery room for about 2hrs. My vitals were checked every 15 min and I couldn`t be moved into my room until I could move my legs and the spinal block wore off. They gave me morphine in an IV with a special little button I could push every 8 min. Thank god for that also cause the incision hurt like hell. I was finally moved to my room, the baby was brought to me and I held her for what felt like ever. Today is day two. The morphine was taken away after 24 hrs. I`m currently not on any pain meds. I`m gonna take some Motrin at bed time. It does hurt like hell but I`m trying to tolerate it. I need help getting on/off the bed/chairs. I walk in super slow motion and haven`t had a bowl movement yet. I need to have one before I leave which should be 3 days after delivery.
