Maximillian-`s birthstory

WOW! I went to my regular Dr.s appt on Tues, and she noticed the babys heartrate was decreasing with contractions. She sent me to the hospital for more testing, and there, they noticed, yes, his heart rate was affected my contractions. My Dr, decided to induce.
She put me on Pitocin and a nurse monitored me and baby for 10 hours. Labor was uncomfortable, but tolerable. By 2:30am, she came to the conclusion natural labor was a bit too dangerous for our baby Max and opted for a C-section, the following day at 7:30 am.
The next morning, I had barely eaten anything in 24 hours, slept maybe a 1/2 hour overnight and was extremely nervous and excited. They gave me a spinal block with morphine which was super wierd feeling and led Sean into the room.
I can`t say it was painful, I couldn`t feel anything from the neck down, but it was uncomfortable having 2 doctors pushing down on my stomach, it felt like especially under my ribs, getting my baby out. My incision is not that big at all , though!!!!
They pulled Max out, he immediatley screamed and looked both dad and i directly in the eye!!!!!!! Sean said `Max Mantooth is here!!` The whole operating room laughed,..
It`s been a difficult and painful recovery these past couple of days, but now on day 6 i`m feeling much better :).
The pediatrician came to us with some difficult news. Max has downs syndrome. He also has a heart defect that needs operating on in about 6 months.
RIght now i`m home, I got discharged yesterday. The dr. tells me Max should be coming home in the next couple of days, he`s been having trouble maintaining his oxygen levels when he eats. I`ve been pumping breastmilk and bringing it to the NICU.
I LOVE THIS BABY MORE THAN ANYTHING ON EARTH! He`s beautiful beyond words !!
We have a long road ahead of us, but i will do anything possible for my baby. I adore him more than life itself!!!!!

My darling son passed away on April 9th, 2008. He had diarrhea and kept losing weight. I was so lucky to have him home, as my sweet baby, for approx. 3 weeks. Then he got admitted to Childrens hospital, LA. The specialists there tried every test to figure out why he was so sick, and kept losing weight. He had surgery to install a "pic line" .. it's a fairly common procedure, an iv to his heart , to help nurish him until they found out what was wrong with his digestive system. He lived through surgery, but passed an hour later, when i had left for lunch. I know that he is not hurting now, and though i miss and mourn and cry for him every single day.. i know that i will be with him again one day. And i know that he lives on through his little sister, Lily, who is perfectly healthy. THANK YOU GOD for giving me my children. I love them both more than life itself.

Lily-Jolene-`s birthstory

At 38 weeks, i went to the Dr. for a check-up.. at that point in time they had done an ultrasound and measured my scar from my previous C section and said i was a perfect candidate for a Vbac, or vaginal birth after C section. I was thrilled, but upon closer inspection , my amniotic fluid was extremely low.. only 2 cc's in my entire uterus ! The Dr, said at that point i had to have a C section the next morning . I was a bit disappointed, i had always wanted to try a vaginal delivery! But, i knew what was important was her safety.
So i called my husband, who was thrilled ! We went out for a nice steak dinner, before i had to fast the night before, but of course we both didn't really sleep. At 4:30 am we got up and went in to check into L and D.
The nurses were very nice, but initially took me into the room by myself to get my IV prepped and ask me personal questions. I was kinda upset, i wanted my husband there ! But they were questions like have i had an STD or abortion, blah blah blah. Well while the one nurse was getting my IV, i think i began to get nervous, even though i wasn't looking at her doing it, and i felt HORRIBLE, my blood pressure bottomed out .. i had a "Vagal response".. basically i fainted ! My blood pressure was 60/30 !!! But then the nurse got an iv in me, and started giving me fluids, and i felt much much better. I was sweaty, pale and nauseous, it was the WORST part of the whole experience !
So soon my husband was by my side, and a team of anastesiologists were going over paperwork with me . They were all very kind and communicative. After what seemed like an eternity, they wheeled me into the OR.
It was pretty much the same as before.. the spinal was uncomfortable but manageable.. i just held onto the nurse in front of me. The good thing about this time was that i could still wiggle my right big toe ! The first time i couldn't wiggle my toes at all and that kind of freaked me out ! Anyway, i guess 2nd C sections tend to take a tiny bit longer.. so it was about 20 min before i heard the best sound ever ...
The anastesiologist tells me.. "the babys head is out" .. and that's when i start to get excited. Wow I loved the entire staff that day.. everyone was very concerned with my comfort level.. the only thing that i wasn't comfortable with was a tight feeling in my chest, which the Dr. described as "referred pain" .. my uterus was numb, but bec of nerves, i was feeling pain in my chest. They quickly gave me some pain meds for that . I have to admit i was feeling pretty loopy !
Then, she was BORN ! I heard her cry , just like in the movies, but not at all like Max. I saw her, she was soo cute.. but looked like a stranger. So THAT's who has been inside my belly this whole time ! I was elated .. she was safe and alive and GRUMPY!
The Dr.s sewed me up.. that , too , took quite a while, about 45 minutes.. and then i got wheeled out to recovery where i got to hold my baby right away! She still had lots of goop on her, but i didn't care ! I put her to breast and she started sucking right away ! What a strong girl ! In the picture , you will notice my husband feeding her a syringe of formula.. that's bec she was slightly hypoglycemic when she was born, but hey, i hadn't eaten in like 14 hours ! Poor thing, of course she recovered quickly. The rest of my recovery went very very well.. i had a pretty awesome staff at University of Tn medical center. I think i was feeling really good because i got to have my darling baby girl WITH me the entire time.. except for an hour or two at night when i asked the nurses to take her while i slept or took a shower. She's MINE ! YAY!
I love her and i see her brother Max in her, a tiny smile.. a look.. the way they are both bald! I just adore her and i'm so glad i got the chance to be a mommy again !
Thanks for reading !
