Billy's Birth Story:
My Due Date was Tuesday, June 17th, 2008. When I went in for my 37 week appointment on May 27th the doctor did and exam and then an ultrasound and determined that he was breech. I told them that I would do WHATEVER it took to prevent a c-section, so we scheduled a "turning" for the next morning at 6:00am.
When I arrived at the hospital on Wednesday, May 28th for the turning; they hooked my up to IV's and machines (just for percautions) and I was already having contractions and 4 cent. dialated (I honestly has NO idea!). The doctor and his assistant attempted to turn him externally, they tried 3 painful times and he did not budge! So they checked me one more time and said I was 4-5 cent. dialated and we needed to do a c-section ASAP. My husband and I were in complete shock, no one even knew we were at the hospital because we did not want them to worry. At this time it was about 9:00am and they came in and told me that the c-section was scheduled for 12 noon that day....yikes! I had never had surgery before in my life, and my original plan was for a complete natural birth....so needles to say I was scared to death! We got on the phone immediatey and told everyone that needed to know. Then, at 12:49pm Billy was born by c-section and it was amazing!
I had no trouble with the c-section, I recovered very well. I was up walking around that evening and had no future problems. I did not want a c-section, but that was the safest way and it all turned out fine! My hospital does not do V-BACS, so any children that I have in the future will have to be c-section....and I will be ready this time!

Bradley Sex: boy Born: 10 October, 2009 Age: 2 years & 128 days Birthday in: 237 days Starsign: Libra Development: See the 28 months page. Biggest achievement so far: Holding my head up and Smiling! |
Original due date: October 24th, 2009
Type of delivery: Vaginal (without pain relief)
Duration of labor: 30 minutes
Weight @ birth: 6 lbs 13.8oz
Length @ birth: 20in
On Saturday morning (10/10) I woke up at 5am with really bad cramps and I thought they might be contractions because they were bad enough that I couldn't go back to sleep...so I just payed attention to them and they were about every 10 mintues. They continued to last all morning and they intensity started to get a little stornger so i decided to call L&D at the hospital. I was scheduled for my repeat c-section in 3 days! When I called the hospital they told me to drink 3 HUGE glasses of water and lay on my left side....then call them back in a little while and let them know what happened. The contractions continued all afternoon so i decided to call the hospital back around 5:00pm....and again they told me the same thing, drink 3 HUGE glasses of water and call them back in 2 hours. I did everything they said, but the contractions kept coming. My husband and I were supposed to go out to eat so we dropped off our 16 month old son at my parents and I decided that we better not go out to eat "just in case" so we picked up a pizza and headed home. By the time we got home the contractions were a little stronger and about 7 minutes apart and I noticed that I had started bleeding some. I called the hospital around 7:30pm and they told me to come in and they would do my c-section. So we started packing bags and getting ready to go and the contractions started coming faster, we left for the hospital around 8:30pm (15 mintue drive) and got there about 8:50pm because we got stopped by a train!
We got to the hospital and they made me register and everything! I had to stop writing like every few minutes cause the contractions were so strong, then I said that I wanted to walk to my room which was 2 floors up on the other side of the hospital....I thought that would help the pain. By the time I got in L&D the contractions were about 1 minute apart and I was bleeding pretty badly, I could barely even put on the gown! The nurse checked me immediately and told me the baby was crowning and wheeled my bed into a delivery room. I started to feel sooooo much pressure and it felt like I had to push! When the got me in the room the nurses were freaking out cause they doctor wasn't there yet and they told me not to push.....but I couldn't help it, my husband looked down and said he saw hair! The baby was still breech 2 days ago and this was supposed to be a c-section!
The doctor got there about 5 mintues later and told me that I needed to push.....I was like, "WHAT?!" aren't we doing a c-section???? He said there is not time for that the baby is in the right postion and you need to push! I pushed 5 times and he was out! 9:21pm my son was born, about 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital. I couldn't believe everything that just happed....I had a VBAC after only 30 minutes of hard labor!!! I had no medicine at all, they didn't even have time to put an IV in because everything was so fast! After he was born I delivered the placenta which wasn't bad, but I tore a lot because there was no time for an episomity and they had to stitch me up. The baby was healthy and the husband and I were in shock still! After they took care of me "down there" they gave me some Motrin, hooked me up to an IV for liquids and I walked to my room carrying my new baby boy!
It was a crazy amazing birth and I am soooo glad that I got to experience it! I felt so cheated with my first pregnany because I didn't get to experience any labor at all, and this time I experience it all NATURAL! I have a lot more bleeding afterwards with this one and my stitches are uncomfortable, but I would definitely choose this over a c-section any day! This is my 2nd and I had really bad menstrual-like cramps for about 4 days after having him, but the doctors told me that is normal and gets worse with every pregnancy!
