Eden-Skye`s birthstory
As
you all know, i had been in hospital for a week due to slipping and
damaging my Pubic bone. The doctor didnt want to induce me till 39
weeks but i got really distressed as i was really in so much pain i
just wanted Eden out... So, on Monday 7th at 11.30pm i got my first lot
of prostaglandin gel and straight away started having contractions, but
was told that was normal after having that inserted. Doctor told me
she'd be back @ 6am to give me a second lot.... Had a pretty sleepless
night as had contractions all night.. At 6am the doctor came back and
gave me an internal before the second lot and told me i didnt need it
as i was dialating myself and was ready to have my waters broke -
needless to say, i was thrilled!! Told me i had to wait for a bed to
become available in the labour ward which i waited all day for and it
never became available!! Was eventually brought down on Weds 9th @ 7am
and was told my cervex was not ready and i had to go back to the ward,
i was soooooooo annoyed/pissed off/upset... Really thought that was it,
that my baby was gonna b born on 09/09/09!!! At 6pm the doctor came
back and gave me another internal and another lot of prostaglandin and
told me he'd (different doctor this time) be back that evening to give
me another,,,, At 10.30 he came back and gave me a sweep and stretched
my cervex as much as he could then gave me another lot of gel, at this
stage the contractions were coming fast and strong, we were timing them
at every 4-6 mins and lasting about a min each time. The doctor told me
if it didnt work, he could only give me one more lot and if that didnt
work i was going to have to have a c-section! About 11.30, the
contractions were strong so the midwife gave me a shot of pethadine
which helped me to sleep but when i woke at 6am the next morning, the
pains were less frequent and not as strong - i was gutted as i really
thought i was in labour.... So anyway, the doctor came back at 9am and
gave me another internal and the last lot of gel, but to my surprise, i
was 3-4 cm dialated and ready to have my waters broke..... Had heard
this on the monday and had been let down so didnt wanna believe it till
it was done but it happened this time!!!!
At 2.30pm i was called
to the labour ward and by 3pm i was having my waters broke and at 4pm i
was having an epidural (was told i was going to need one as the pubic
bone was so bad), the time started to drag for the next coouple if
hours until about 7.00 when the epidural wore off and i was in agony
and needed a top up... Once i had that, it was only about an hour and i
was fully dialated and ready to push! So, its 8pm, im ready to push so
i start, and nothing happens,,,, and this goes on for the next 3.5
hours...................... I was sooooooooooo exhausted from the
contractions over the previous 4 days and the sleepless nights, i just
didnt have the energy to push.. At one stage i had 4 midwifes and a
doctor in trying to get me to push but it was no good.. and the
epidural was wearing off AGAIN!! I screamed and screamed for a section,
i was that desperate to get Eden out and was in soooo much pain... In
the end the doctor decided the best way to get her out was to do a
vaccuum delivery, i didnt care anymore as i was in total agony!! So the
doctor got out the ventouse and as he was "sucking", i pushed with
everything i had!! It took 3 attempts and eventually out she came at
11.56pm................... All i could say was "thank god thats
over"...... I needed 2 stitchs as i tore while giving birth..
So,
thats my story of the birth of my beautiful 8lb 5oz little girl - Sorry
if its scared anyone but i must say, she is my 4th baby and the worst
delivery ive ever had... All my previous births were so easy so this
one was a shock to me...... BUT.... She is sooooooooo worth every
minute of pain and would i go through it again to have her? Hell,
YES!!!!!
