Carter-Justin`s birthstory

I had been having contractions for quite some time and at 32 weeks I was placed o Procardia to keep them under control and was told to stop them at 36 weeks. So Sunday Feb 7th I started contracting, they would become very close together and regular and then after a few hours taper off. This went on until Monday evening at about 8pm when they started coming 2 minutes apart like clockwork.

I deccided around midnite it was time to calll the Dr and even though she didnt really seem to believe me she told me to come to the hospital and get checked. I was put on the monitor and the nurse confirmed that I was in a `labor pattern`. She called the Dr who advised her to start an IV and give me tons of fluids because she thought I was just dehydrated which of course didnt work. I was then given brethine which also did nothing. Finally around 3am Tuesday morning they made one last attempt to stop the contractions by giving me Stadol to knock me out and even though I was completely exhausted it did NOTHING.

I was finally admitted and told that the Dr doing the rounds in the morning would make a decision on what was going to be done. I was soooo happy to find out that it was one of my favorite Dr`s (he delivered my daughter) and he knew about my medical history. He made an effort to come in earlier then normal knowing everything I had gone thru the nite before and after taking one look at me and another at the contractions he told me we would be having a baby!! Only one problem.... they were short a Dr from his practice so he had no one to assist with the c-section- ah!

After about 45 minutes of nervous waiting he came back to tell me a physician from another practice was on his way and that they would start getting me prepped and to expect a baby in about an hour!! I called my hubby and told him to hurry up and get to the hospital!!

I was taken back to the OR around 10am and given an epidural. It didnt work just like with my last pregnancy, they had to keep adding more and more meds, but finally I was numb and they were able to move forward.

Carter Justin was born at exactly 37 weeks weighing in at only 5lbs 110z!! He is my teeny tiny little peanut and I am so in love!
