Amelia-Mary`s birthstory

After being in the hospital from Saturday to Sunday with early labor, I went home Sunday, only to have contractions start every 4 minutes on Monday morning around 10:30. By the time I went to the hospital at 2:30, they were 2 minutes apart and I was 5 cm dilated. I had an epidural a short time later, and in a few hours, I was 9 cm and the midwife broke my water to speed things up.

Amelia had her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, which was affecting her pulse. I could hear her heart rate going up and down on the monitor, which scared the cr@p out of me. When it came time to push, I pushed her out in 6 sets of 4 pushs (6 contractions) or about 12 minutes! I`m glad I did...she had also had a bm in utero, so she had to be suctioned for swallowing meconium, and given oxygen, etc. We were all worried and anxious for a while, but the staff at the hospital took such good care of her and by the next morning, cleaned up and cleaned out, resting peacefully, she was just fine.

We came home last night after almost 48 in the hopsital after giving birth, and we are just getting our feet under us now. I can`t say it`s been easy, or it will be, but I would do it all over again for her. She is our precious angel and our little miracle.
