On Wednesday April 16th I went in at 7:30am for my induction. I was a little nervous just because this is my first child and I had no clue what to expect, and was so worried if something were to go wrong. Well it went great! :-) I went into the hospital already 5cm dialted and was given my Pitocin around 8:30 or so and just sat there kinda bored as my contractions increased slowly. My midwife came in around 10am to break my waters but they had already broken and I had no clue. They told me it was at that point that my contractions would start getting more intense and to let them know ahead of time when I wanted my epidural because I would have to wait for my IV to run out first. Well I think I tolerated them pretty well, and I wasn't in agonizing pain when I finally did ask for my epidural, but my IV drip was sped up and my eyes never left that bag! LoL With my contractions getting more and more intense I finally did get to the point where I was ringing the nurses station making sure the anesthesiologist didn't forget about me. In the mean time my boyfriend sat by my side letting me squeeze the crap out of his hand with each rolling contraction. Finally the anesthesiologist shows up and heres where it gets interesting...I was most nervous about this part just at the thought of something being stuck into my back. The sticks..yes sticksS in my back didn't hurt as much, but he had to stick me THREE times before he got into the right position. And to be constantly asked "Do you feel pressure on the right, left or center?" in the middle of contractions was not fun at all. FINALLY he got it into the right position, taped me up and was on his way. My mom and boyfriend were told that now was a good time to go have lunch and get some fresh air and my Pitocin was increased because my contractions were still so spread out. I laid there feeling pretty good for about an hour or so (this was probably around 1pm). About 2:15 I started getting LOTS of pressure from my contractions...this was almost as bad as the contractions themselves. At that time the nurse came in and checked me and said "No cervix..Let's have a birthday party!" hee hee (They were really cool nurses) so my midwife came in about 2:30, told me whenever I felt the pressure lets push. Well I did, and good might I add ;-) ...I felt SUCH a relief pushing, it was honestly the best and easiest part of my labor. They kept asking was I sure this was my first time having a baby and said that they were jealous that I had such a short and easy labor. I pushed and pushed and out came little Jaylon at 2:56pm. He weighed 6lbs and 12oz, the exact same weight they had him measured at my last appointment of fetal tests on Monday. I was sooo happy, and he was 100% perfectly healthy. We are doing great now and I feel like I've changed a KA-JILLION diapers lol...but I wouldn't give it up for the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
