Joe was born 3 days early I was induced - I had a quick labour - with pains from about 6pm but my husband was sent home at 10 and told to come back in the morning as i wasnt in labour (apparently) - I had some sleeping tablets and pain killers at about 11 but by 12midnight I'd had enough and rang buzzer for another pain killer then my waters broke and when the examined me I was about 7cm dilated - they took me to labour ward and rang Iain saying "come in but take your time" he arrived at about 1.25am I'd had a shot of meptid by then and some gas and air and I pushed Joe out after about 3 pushes at 01.31am - he was perfect - and hes getting more gorgeous every day

Rudy John birthstory
my waters had been leaking away for several days so I was took in on friday morning the 14th March at 8am -
I was told on monday 10th march that i was 2-3cm dilated so when I went in on Friday I was told that they would be breaking my waters (rupturing my membranes) and this would set off labour...
however on examination on friday morning I was told i was actually barely 1cm dilated with a long cervix so I would need to have either drip (which i didnt want) or gel (which ive had twice before) -
i was so upset i went for a pee whilst the midwife went to get the gel - however when she then went to insert the gel (about 5 mins later) I was then 3cm dilated!!!
SO she got the crochet hook out and broke my waters - when I stood up they went with a GUSH they went on and on forever - no wonder my bump was so big ! we went for a walk around the hospital but as nothing else happened
at 12midday I had the drip fitted (sorry i dont know what the technical name is) -
by about 3.30pm i was having some contractions but they were totally bearable except for making me need a pee so they unhooked me from monitor and me and my drip walked to the loo (luckily i had an en suite bathroom !!) also which was nice was we had a tv in our room so i was chuckling away at UK daytime trash tv
at 4pm my contractions starting to get stronger so i asked for GAS AND AIR and asked if I could have an examination to tell me how dilated i am as by this point the contractions were unbearable (i always like to wait as long as possible before asking for gas and air) - i was hoping to be tod i was 7 or 8 cm dilated but i was told i was 4cm and would prob have another 4-5 hours to go!! I thought no way could i put up with this for another 4 or 5 hours!
the midwife left the room and from that point the contractions got so strong I was pulling on the gas and air and couldnt even open my eyes to talk to iain in between contractions - i managed to tell him to ring for the midwife as this baby was coming and not in 4-5 hours - in between contractions I could actually feel the baby moving down what i can only imagine to be the birth canal and I felt a huge feeling of what i can only describe as elation???? my body just felt so relaxed in between contractions - the midwife came in and I said I want to push on the next contraction - when she examined me she said i was 8cm dilated but she noticed from my notes that on my1st labour i wanted to push at 7cm and the midwife was able to assist the cervix over the babies head and I pushed out the baby so she would do the same this time even though I was only at 8 (oh by the way i was also demanding a meptid shot but she said no point!)
Iain was filming the birth (well the camera was just on table at the end of the bed) by this point he had pressed record
I heard the midwife say `stop the tape as i cant here the babies heartbeat on the monitor` i thought to myself `your kidding i thought his head is out!) as i had had 1 or 2 pushes - then i thought `right id better push this baby out fast` anyway the next thing i heard her say `its ok you can click record` I remember pushing the head out... by the way i may sound vague but this is the gas and air - I have never taken LSD but i imagine it has the same affect - i felt like i was watching myself in a movie - i could here the tv and was talking back to the lady on the tele - i heard iain and the midwife laughing - then i remember being aware that i just had to give one more push and i remembered the feeling of passing the shoulder/body with the boys as i remembered you then feel the warm gush of fluid and cord (sorry hope this isnt TMI but im also writing this for my benefit to remember!) - so then he was born!!!
I had asked for him to be delivered onto my stomach/chest - i had my nightdress on still but that didnt matter - we both remarked how big he looked and I had been told on the wednesday that hed be top end of 7 lb maybe 8 lbs - when they weighed him he was 9bs 4oz we were amazed - my 1st thought was `do i need stitches?????` i asked midwife she said she wouldnt know until i had passed the placenta - i remember pushing out the placenta it was much harder than when I had the boys! and as it turned out i DIDNT need stitches!!!....
the official labour was recorded at 46 minutes - 1st stage 30 mins (so i guess they took it from the 4pm when i asked for pain relief at 4cm) 2nd stage 6 minutes (the pushing out) and 3rd stage 10 minutes (passing the placenta!)
I do feel incredibly lucky that my labour was so quick and easy- even though at the start of this pregnancy i really didnt want to be induced- once i got to 40 weeks i`ll be honest I didnt mind as long as Rudy got here safely - once my waters leaked I had no choice anyway as you cant be left longer than 48 hours!
Rudy is only 2 days old hes already taken over the household but we wouldnt have it any other way - I am a princess amongst 4 princes......
thanks for reading my birth story xx
