Cailey-Anne-Marie`s birthstory
We went back in to Labor and Delivery and they
confirmed my bag of waters was leaking...again...and they admitted me.
It was about 1700 Tuesday, 19 Feb. A nurse came in and did an EXTREMELY
rough membrane sweep and contractions started. They then gave me my
first I.V. at 1845. They gave me antibiotics (broken bag), Pitocin, and
Saline. The contractions really started coming. My IV was itching a lot
what a pain in the butt.
2220 they raised the Pitocin drip.
2312 I was still at THREE CM!
0020 I got a second dose of antibiotics.
0022 Will convinced me to get an epidural lol
0055 I got my epidural. Fan-freaking-tastic.
The notebook that Will and my mom were writing all of this in says that at 0105 I could barely even feel the contractions!
0115 I got the dreaded catheter.
0350 FOUR CM! What the heck? Contractions 30 sec to a minute apart but I couldn't feel any of them.
0730 5 cm
0930 5 cm
1157 New epidural. Nurse thinks some meconium came out when she broke my bag of waters...(why didn't they do that earlier???)
1305 5 cm - C-section is imminent.
Cailey
was delivered at 1330 on the 20th by C-section. She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz
and was 21 inches long. When I was done in the OR they sent me to
recovery but I got to hold Cailey for a few seconds in the hallway on
the way. They sent me up to the mother baby unit after the recovery
room and I got to hold Cailey for the second time. We tried
breastfeeding and then my liquid dinner came in. Something wasn't right
and not only was I feeling extreme pain, everyone said I was super
pale. After every doctor in the hospital pushed and mashed my abdomen
and I was wrenching in pain they rushed me in to the OR for emergency
surgery. It was 1830 on the 20th. I remember someone telling me stay
awake Cari (found out it was Will) and feeling like I was going to be
sick several times on the way to the OR. They had this mask on my face
that felt like it was suffocating me and I kept saying I can't breathe.
I felt them removing the staples just before I passed out. They went
right back in through the C section incision and found they had nicked
an artery. My abdomen and uterus were filled with blood. After they
repaired the artery they tried to get all the blood out. They told me
later that I had lost over 1/3 of my blood and I had 2 blood
transfusions immediately. I don't know what happened Thursday the 21st,
but they released me back to the Mother Baby unit Friday afternoon
after getting 2 more blood transfusions (4 units total). The doctor
asked me Saturday afternoon if I wanted to stay until Monday or leave
today and I said GOODBYE. They released us from the hospital Saturday
afternoon (TOO EARLY). Everyone's been astonished at how fast I've
recovered. Not recovered enough though I gotta go put my feet back up and will add more details AND PICTURES later.
