mack`s birthstory

my husband and i went in on jan. 29 at 7:45am for my usual nst and an u/s to check the fetal weight. the nst went well they said everything was perfect! so i went in for my u/s and she told us he weigh APPROX 8 lbs 10 oz and it could go 1 lb up or down. then she was measuring my amniotic fluid and it was less than 1. which it's supposed to be above 5. so the u/s tech lady looked at us and said "you will probably be having your baby today". wow. that was a shock. i was scheduled to have him on feb.3 and wasn't actually due until feb.11. so we went to my obgyn's office and she measured my cervix (2cm) and effacement (75%) and she said his head was way up there and that meant he was going to be a big baby. i had gestational diabetes so they were guessing on the higher end of the weight being at 9 lbs 10oz. we discussed being induced for a vaginal birth but she thought he was going to be too big that his shoulders would get stuck and they'd have to do a c-section anyways so i opted for the c-section because frankly i didn't want to do a vag birth AND a c section...i'd just rather have one problem to heal.

then we got booked into l&d at 10:30. we had to wait 8 hours after i last ate/drank...silly me, i had no clue i was having the baby that day so i drank some water in the waiting room of the u/s at 830am. so they were planning on doing this at 4:30pm. we waited...and waited...and then my doctor couldn't wait anymore and had to go home at 7pm. then we waited....and waited...apparently some women had an emergency going on in the OR and they were working on her for a while...then they had to clean it and then FINALLY at around 10pm i finally got my anesthesia and had my beautiful baby boy at 10:13pm! he weighed in at 7 lbs 10oz and didn't hardly cry. the sad thing was that my anesthesia made me feel so nauseated that i think my first words that i said were "i think i'm going to puke". then they gave me awesome meds and i was loopy and don't remember much after that.
