After 2 membrane sweeps in 2 days, my water broke at 3 AM on Wednesday July 30th. (I was due the 26th ). My contractions began a half hour later. My husband and I started timing them usuing an online contraction timer, which was awesome! They started to become pretty painful, so I called the midwife and arranged to meet her at the birthing center at 7AM. At 6:30 AM we got in the car -which is very painful to labor in!!! At the center I was checked by a nurse who said I was 8-9 centimeters. I was so happy to hear that! When the midwife came in to the room she asked me to stand, saying it would move things along. it made the pain unbearable, so I begged to get in the tub. I labored in there for aboutan hour until I felt lots of pressure and an urge to push. in between contractions, I got out and went back on the bed to push. I pushed for a half hour and Evan was born at 8:29 AM . The most painful part was the contractions--the pushing was actually a relief! I thought it would be the other way around. I did not tear, thanks to the midwife putting castor oil on me while I was pushing.
