Hunter-Margaret`s birthstory

Well, I went into labor on Thursday night, my contractions started out about an hour apart and didn't really hurt so I thought they were braxton hicks. By about 10 o'clock that night they were really hurting and coming ever 5 minutes so we loaded up the car and headed to the hospital about 12:30. We got to the hospital and my contractions were timing 4-6 minutes apart so they kept me a while. After like 6 hours they said that my cervix was not making enough change from hour to hour to say that I wasn't in active labor and they gave me the choice on whether or not to go home. I went home b/c my Dr. was going to be out of town until Monday and I really wanted to "hold her in". The nurses gave me a few tips on how to delay labor such as taking tylenol regularly, drinking more than a gallon of water a day and putting my feet up and limiting my activity. SO I did all of this stuff and while I continued to have contractions all weekend they spread back out to like every hour or so and were very mild. Monday morning comes and my Dr. was back in town and we were scheduled to be induced. We were supposed to be there at 6 so I called ahead and they said that they were pretty full but to come on in and we would see when we got there...I started to panic b/c by this time I wanted my baby! hehe We got there and were admitted. The nurse told me that they were just going to hook me up to the monitors and monitor the babies normal patterns for a while so after they started patocin they would know if they baby got into a stress pattern. So they hooked me up and the first thing the nurse says is " you are already having regular contractions". DUH! hehe So she said just to relax that she wanted to see where my own contractions took me for a while. She checked me and I was 85% effaced and 2 centimenters, I was 75% and 1 1/2 on Thursday, so I was pretty successful at putting off those labor pains. :) Sooo after an hour of just being monitored she said that my Dr. was going to come in and break my water soon so we could get the show on the road and that if I needed to go to the bathroom I should do it then because once he broke it I was not allowed out of bed. I got up to go and after I finished I had a little gush. I kind of thought to myself "OMG I have even lost control of my blatter at this point" hehe But when I started walking back to bed I felt it again. I stopped and asked the nurse if she did anything different when she checked me because I felt like I was leaking something. She said no and told me that she better check me again and to get back in bed, and it happened. I went to climb back into bed and there was a HUGE gush, it was 8:15am and my water had broke all by itself!! YAY! The contractions started getting intense really quickly. They asked if I wanted the epidural and I was determined to get through labor without it so I said no. At 9:50 the nurse came in I was 3 cm and fully effaced I was next on the list for the epi and there was one person after me and then the anastesiologist had to go into a c-section and it would be an hour and a half before he could do my epi if I didn't want it now. I asked her to let him do the other lady first and then ask me before he went in for surgery because I thought I might be able to wait. She agreed. By 10 o'clock I was in tears and begging her to make him hurry with the epi. I had it done by 10:45 and it was SMOOTH SAILING! I was dialted to 6cm at 1 o'clock, already an 8 at 1:30 and ready to push at 3! My nurses had to change shifts so I had to labor down for about 45 minutes...which sucked! Then the nurse started me pushing. I gave her two pushes and she said I had to wait for the Dr. because the baby was already crowning. THEN to make matters worse my Dr. was in a procedure and I had to wait 15 minutes and just breath. Hardest thing I ever had to do. Dr. came in about 4:15pm and I gave him a few good pushes and before I knew it I heard "Look at those chubby cheeks" OMG it was the most amazing thing in the world! Hunter Margaret Dawson was born at 4:32pm and I was in love!!! I was just watching them with her while the sewed me up (I had an apesiotomy) and I cried...I looked up and my husband was crying too! It was Amazing! I never knew I could love someone so much! She is such an amazing little person...Well, she is crying so I've got to wrap up!! YAY!
