Birth details

Type of delivery: Vaginal (with pain relief)
Duration of labor: 12 hours
Weight @ birth: 6 pounds, 10 ounces
Length @ birth: 19 1/2 inches long

On the morning of April 3rd, 2008 I woke up just like any other day. My husband came home from working the night shift, and I assumed my spot on the couch to watch yet another round of daytime tv. As I got up to get a drink, I felt a little bit of wetness. So I changed, and changed again. I woke up Wes and said "I think I have a slow leak", and he said "no it's probably just discharge or something". So I was like whatever, and I went back to watching tv. Well it didn't stop really. Every time I would move I would feel a little wetter. So I told my DH that I was calling the OB. I was to have my 38 week check-up on that day at 3:00, but they told me to come in so they could check me. So I woke up the DH again and we went in about 11:30. They checked me and I was still 2 cm dialated, and they put that strip on me to test for amniotic fluid. That came up negative for fluid, but they sent me over to the hospital anyway. After about 3 hours of walking around I was still wet. The doctors did an ultrasound to measure my anmiotic fluid and it was at that point that they saw my fluid level was dropping. So they told me that I'd either have this baby tonight or tomorrow morning. My hubby was in the bathroom when the nurse told me this. So I told him as soon as he got out, and the look on his face was priceless. He was in total shock. I said "I told you so!" To make a long story short, I was in labor for 12 hours and pushed for 1 hour, 15 minutes and at 3:46 am, Mackenzie Summer Wilcox was born. It was a pretty easy delivery. I got staidol, and then an epidural, so I only felt a little bit of pain...but that was enough for me! Everyone was there...it was sooo magical! She was perfect :o)
