Joseph-William`s birthstory

I went in on Tuesday June 3rd for a ultrasound and an NST seeing as our little guy was overdue. We went in at 11 that morning and found out that my fluid was low. By noon I was admitted in laying in a labor & delivery bed. The doctors decided that they were going to start my inducement then. I was still only 1cm dilated, not very effaced, and the baby was not engaged at all. They started with misoprostol at 2:30 to get things moving. Well that did nothing for me, after trying 6 rounds of it within the first 30 hours of being there. In between a round, the doctor decided to dilate me with a `balloon` - he put a catheter inside of me and placed it on top of my cervix. He then injected it with liquid to make a balloon on top of my cervix. This put pressure on it and finally the contractions began. I was contracting back to back, and in a lot of pain but didn`t feel the need for any meds yet. This balloon method dilated me to 4 cms and thinned me out to 75%, however the baby was still not engaged at all. Come Thursday morning, they decided they were going to start me on pitocin. That started my contractions once again, very strongly. But things still were NOT going ANYWHERE. I was not dilating anymore, I was not thinning out anymore, nor was the baby not dropping down. The nurse we had was great and stayed with me the whole time because she noticed that the babys heartrate was getting irregular. They were checking to see if it was due to the pitocin and him not liking it or if it was just when I contracted. While she was monitoring this, the doctor finally decided to break my water. My baby boy popped a lot inside of me and I freaked out. I was so nervous I could not stop crying. They had to insert an iv inside of me and flush it with saline solution to thin it out because there was so much of it. I ended up getting an epidural at this point, where I was in so much pain and I was exhausted. His heartrate kept going in and out so he then decided to monitor it internally. Within a half hour, his rate went to almost nothing. Immediately a whole team of doctors came in, unhooked everything and my REAL doctor *she was on vacation the whole time up until 2 hours before this all happened* came in and said we`re getting him out now. So we were rushed into the OR, we were considered a `Code White` and I felt like I was in a movie it was so surreal. Within 10 minutes they had my baby boy out and I finally heard him cry. He was taken by the NICU immediately and they suctioned out his lungs from the poop and got his heart rate back.

So after 52 hours of a pointless inducement, we had to have an emergency csection - but our baby boy is PERFECT and he 100% healthy and happy!! I love every second of being a mommy and his daddy is too. He has been such a great support throughout all of this, and I could not have asked for a better husband.

Oh yeah, and baby wasn`t engaging - because his head was stuck! Don`t you think they could have seen that?! He came out with a red ring around his face that showed exactly where he was stuck, that just finally went away.

He is perfect (o:
