Richard-Green-III`s birthstory

I went into labor the day of my baby shower, Sept 19, 2009. It was about 11pm and I began having tightening in my upper abs. It wasnt painful at all and so I didnt pay it any attention. The tightening continued all Sunday morning and by the afternoon I called my grandmother to see if she thought I should call the doctor (still no `pain`). Once I told her that I felt discomfort in my back, she advised that I call the doctor because that was a sign of labor. The doctor told me to drink cold water and lay on my left side for an hour and if nothing changed to come in. The cold water and rest work for about an hr but then the tightening returned. By then, the hubby was concerned enough to grab our bags and head out to the hospital.....i still wanted to wait it out, lol. When we got to the hospital I explained that I wasnt sure if I was in labor but that I was pretty sure that braxton hicks wouldnt have lasted this long. After being monitored, it was determined that I was 4-5 cm dilated and that i was indeed in labor. I was admitted, and after 16 hrs of labor and 10 mins of pushing, my beautiful 6lbs 6.2 ounce baby boy was born....3 weeks before his due date :) I`m so in love and so grateful to God for blessing me more than I`ve ever been blessed before.
