Ashden-Hunter`s birthstory

I woke up on the 19th with mild contractions, coming erratically (anywhere from 3 - 12 minutes apart) So decided to go to work, and see how things went. By 1pm they still hadn`t gone away, so I went home and started timing them, by 3pm they were 6 minutes apart and quite painful. I called Mark and he came home from work, I was still dealing with the pain ok, so we stayed home until 6.30 and then decided to go into the hospital. I was dilated to 5 by the time we got there, and my water still hadn`t broken, so my midwife broke it, then the contractions got really bad and were coming 1 minute apart for the next hour. I was using gas and air, which took the edge off slightly, but I was constantly using it, and blacked out a couple of times, so they had to turn it down.
Ashden was born quite soon after that... don`t really know how long the pushing stage lasted cause time really has no meaning when you`re in that much pain, but it didn`t feel like long.

After he was born, my placenta wouldn`t deliver, long story short, I ended up hemorrhaging and having a blood transfusion... not fun.
My recovery went really well though, and two days later we are both home. Ashden is sleeping quite well and feeding a lot, even though my milk hasn`t come in yet (possibly a side effect from the transfusion) but generally, he`s a pretty happy, contented baby :)
