Hunter-Alfred-Ordoyne`s birthstory
Got up to go to the bathroom and felt a little bit of gush when I rolled over to get up. Went to the bathroom but no fluid was coming, so I layed back down and waited to see what was going to happen. Not even 3 minutes later, it did it again. I called the hospital and they said to come in and we`d test it to see if it was my water. DH and I got up and were in no rush (infact, the hospital called to make sure we were okay!) While driving, I started getting contractions about 3-4 minutes apart and with every contraction my water would gush some more. We got to the hospital and the rest of my water ruptured as I got out of the vehicle. So I`m waddling into the hosptial with my pants SOAKED. I get into my room and she does the paper test, in an instant it changes to dark, yup, no doubt about it, it was my water and i was in labor~ Got me hooked up and I was at a 3, 80%, and -2. Over the next SEVERAL hours, my labor became erratic and i would go from having 2 strong contractions back to back, to not having another for 4 minutes. Dr. decided to start my epi and get me on pitocin. Well, the loong day wore on and the pitocin kicked in, but my epi wore off when I was at an 8! They called the anethesiologist to come fix it, but the labor progressed fast and the epi didn`t have time to kick in! They put me on oxygen and I started deep breathing and kinda zoned everyone out. All of a sudden the dr told me that i could start pushing with the next contraction. Hunter`s head was tilted back instead of chin to chest like it should have been. So I ended up getting and epesiotomy. The sucky part- because the epi wore off, I could feel her give me the shot to numb the area and make the cuts! Well, after more space was made, I started pushing. It didn`t seem like long to me, but it was about 30 minutes to 45 minutes of pushing and he came out. He had the cord around his neck once, but it was lose. They went ahead and gave him oxygen and all was well. Daddy went over and watched over him while the dr stitched me up (once again I felt this too) Shortly after, my epi finally kicked back in, after the fact, and i could move my legs! Oh well, a little to late at that point. But I had my little miracle. Daddy is so smitten by him and it`s a totally different side of him that I love to witness daily. Hunter wasjaundice and so we had to spend a couple days back at the hospital, but we`re home now and trying to get into the swing of things. My milk didn`t come in right away and still isn`t top notch, but we`re working on it. Other than that, I really can`t complain. I have a handsome son and an awesome partner as his father.
