January 15, 2008
The day started off like any other day. I had a normal doctors appointment scheduled for 10:30am, and my hubby and I were getting ready for it. I started having some contraction, as usual, and I took a terbutaline pill at 10am, and then we left to go to the doctor. When we got there, there was a long wait as usual. I finally got in and at that point I was still having contractions, and they were becoming more frequent and stronger. My doctor checked my cervix, and I was still only dialated at a 1cm, but I was thinning. She also saw how uncomfortable I was with each contraction, and said she was going to hook me up to the machine that would monitor my contractions, and the baby's heart rate. She left me on the machine for 20 minutes. When she came back she said it was good that the baby wasn't being affected by them, but my contractions wre two minutes apart, and pretty strong. She told me not to take another terbutaline, but to go to the hospital. She was going o call the oncall doctor, and have them give me some fluids, and hope that would slow down the contractions. If not, she said they would prob deliver the baby today. I thought for sure I would be going home! So we went to the hospital, and they put in the IV, gave me a shot of terbutaline, and the on call doctor came in. He checked my cervix again, and I was at a 2cm, thinning and the baby was at station 0. He said he was going to go do a c-section on someone else, and check on me. If I was still contracting they were going to do the c-section because they were worried that the frequency of my contractions were going to rip popen my previous c-section internally. Well he came back 45 minutes later, and I was still contracting. He check my cervix and I was dialated to 3cm at this point. He decided they were going to go ahead and do the c-sction. I started to panic. I wasn't ready, and I wasn't sure she was either. I was only 35 weeks and 5 days. I was really scared. Don was able to run home and get the camera, but he made it back just in the nick of time. As I was walking into the operating room, he was walking down the hall looking for me. He changed while they gave me the epidural. They got me all set up and let him come in there and be with me. That is when I lost it. I was crying because I was scared, and just wanted my princess to be ok. Don was my rock. He calmed me down, and just as I was calming down, the doctor told him to get the camera ready because she was coming out. Don got some good pictures of her coming out of me! Then I heard her! She sounded great. They showed me her real fast and then took her to he baby station to make sure she was ok, and clean her up. They also left enough cord for Don to be able to recut it. WWhen they were done cleaning her up, they brought her to me and I got to kiss her and talk to her before they took her and Don out of the room while they closed me up. I then went to the recovery room, where Don and the baby were, and I got to hold my baby. I cried! She was beautiful, perfect, and everything I imagined. I found out she weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces, 18 inches long, and has all ten fingers and ten toes. She has blonde hair(lot of it), and blue eyes! She is the definition of PERFECTION!!!! When I can post pictures I will! She is a profesional at breast feeding, I call her Jaws:), and she has regular bowel movements, and urinates regularly. She had what they thought were some breathing problems her first night, so they took her to the NICU for a couple of hours to monitor her. She ended up being fine, and was just making little grunting noises that she makes still! She did have some slight bruising on her face, but that was from her position inside of me on my pubic bone. It happened so fast, and I was so scared, but it ended up being one of the happiest days of my life! I love my Angel Face so much! Devin Marie was born January 15, 2008, at 4:14pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
