I checked in for induction at 6 am Sat Nov 17th, and got my IV started and baby monitors on and all the usual stuff...I was dialated to 1 and still high and hard ... the cytotec was inserted about 730 am and by about 930 I was having regular contractions every 2 1/2 mins that were pretty mild. This continued for hours and hours but the contractions started picking up strength by about 1130. My Dr. came in about 230 or 3 and broke my water. Contractions at this point were still real regular and gettin pretty strong. I asked for epi, knowing that when my water breaks, all hell breaks loose. I was only about 2-2.5. I got the epi within about an hour. Just in time cuz the contractions right before he got it in were hellacious. It took him two different stabs at getting it in :( It was heaven for about an hour or two, but then I gradually started feeling the contractions too much again, and they had also started pitocin by this time, so they were pretty strong ones. After trying to up the medicine twice, the anesthetist told me he'd have to re do it. I decided to hold off on redoing it and just deal with it. About 8 was in real bad pain and wanted it redone. The third epi did the same thing... helped (although never completely took the pain away) but then faded away within about an hour and never did come back. About 9-930 I was only at 3 but started feeling crazy pressure like he was trying to drop down and couldnt. I told the nurse, who checked me and said I was still at 3 but that she felt the pressure I was talking about while I was having a contraction, so she started scurrying about to get the room ready for baby. (Thank God for nurses who take your word for it when u say you go quickly once 3 or 4 cm rolls around). She checked me 15 mins later and I was a 5/6. A half hour later I was 8. By about 1045 I told her I felt the urge to push and sure enough she checked me and I was complete. I began some "practice" pushing while waiting for the dr to get ready, and dr said ok lets push this baby out heather! I was in so much pain and frustrated at feeling every bit of his descent down that I just wanted to "rest for a minute" but the pain hurt and when my dr said "no! get this over with heather, you'll feel better!" I was like YEAH! youre right! and I pushed like hell! His head came out and they told me to stop cuz he had the cord wrapped tightly around his neck. Dr. cut the cord off from around his neck and although i was instructed to let him slip out naturally to avoid tearing.... the urge to push was too great and my body couldnt resist. Antony was born at 1114 pm, crying and healthy. I remember my first thought was how tiny he looked to me (and still does) so I'm not sure where he's hiding his 8 lbs 1 oz, but he is just beautiful to me and I am in love. He looks like a photocopy of his daddy, but with blue eyes so far (thanks to mom..heheh) and he is my heart. I have a few stitches but am doing real well. He is great, doesnt sleep much though cuz he always likes to be at my breasts....lol. He's not a fussy baby though, and when he does cry, its not a loud screaming cry, just a cute puppy whimper type cry. I am so happy he's here. Thank God for him and for our health. Best of luck and prayers to you and your babies. To those of u still waiting, I know it's frustrating but the time will come and u will then be amazed that your child is actually here with u...... its a blessing indeed. I would've gone nuts waiting if I didnt have u guys :) God Bless....
