Autumn's Arrival~
My labor was nearly text book perfect!! I saw the doctor on my due date, March 4th. She said she would induce me on the 7th if I didnt go on my own. At 12:15am on March 6th, I woke up to use the restroom and as I walked, I started leaking. I thought maybe I was wetting myself...I had no clue! I got back into bed when I was finished, laid there, then I could feel myself leaking some more. Again I got up, went to the restroom and continued to leak. I laid in bed for another hour or so then woke my husband up. He made me call the hospital, they said to come in. My mom was here, so we got her up and headed to the hospital...
We checked in at 3:15am on Friday, March 6th. I was dialated to 3.5cm and was 90% effaced. At around 7am I got some IV pain meds, which stopped the contractions I was having, which I hardly noticed. They started the pitocin because my contractions were done! The pitocin worked!! I started having decent contractions, nothing too bad, so at 10am I got another dose of IV meds, which again stopped the contractions!! (If they had just told me that would happen, I wouldnt have received the damn meds!!!) So they uped the pitocin again...
I decided I was ready for the epidural at around 12pm (I believe) and they checked me, I was at 5cm...While they were placing it, I was having the worse contractions...the worse pain I had ever felt in my life! I honestly thought she was coming out my rectum! I was in horrible pain! I stayed calm and tried to breath through them, as I had seen on the TV shows, LOL, just keeping focused on Autumn arriving any time!! By the time he finished placing the epidural, I was throwing up and felt like I wanted to push!! I kept my cool though with the breathing. I told the nurse I needed to push and she said I wasnt ready yet. She decided to check me and saw that I was at 10cm...I went from 5-10 in about an hour!! Things moved FAST after that!!!
They told me to start pushing...they had to tell me when as then I couldnt feel anything! They told me to reach down, feel her head, that was a trip!! Thats when I knew it was all real! I knew I was about to be a mom!! Her heart rate started dropping so they had to use the suction thing, two pushes with the suction and she was out at 2:13pm! It was amazing! Her chord was wrapped around her neck twice and then around her left foot, so as she started to come out, the chord was cutting off her air (poor girl)! The suction I guess helped get her out faster. My doctor said Im a natural pusher...LOL...
All in all, the pain was very minor and the time went so fast! I had very little tearing, only needed a few stitches and things have healed quite nicely ;-)
